Anyone plan on going to the Flint River Knife/Gun Show this weekend in Atlanta? As of last Saturday there were approx 80 Knife Tables Reserved, lots of Custom Makers and I'm sure more than a couple Purveyors.

Custom Makers - There will be some great Makers in attendance, both Forgers and Stock Removal artists. This Show will also be a good opportunity to see many new Makers that may not be as well known but who will probably provide lots of "Bang for your Buck". Here is a partial list of Makers scheduled to attend;
JERRY HOSSUM
RADE HAWKINS
ED HALLIGAN
KEITH KILBY
MARVIN POOLE
BILLY SOWELL
JIMMIE BUCKNER
BOB ROSENFELD
WAYNE HENSLEY
JIM RAGSDALE
MICHAEL POWELL
FRANK MOODY
DAVID GREENE
BILL BRADBERRY
MITCH KOZLOFF
RODNEY SHELTON
CHRIS ENGLISH
PAUL REYNOLDS
J.R. ADAMS

This event is being sponsored by Goergia Mountain Productions and if you'd like a FREE Coupon for $1.00 of the Entry Fee just visit their website and print one off - http://www.georgiamountain.com/

On the Site you can also get directions to the Show, Opening/Closing Times, etc.

Anyone own any blades by some of these lesser known Makers, let us know what you have and what you think of their work!

Look forward to seeing you there. Email me if anyone wants to try and meet.

I'm packing my camera now. It should be a good show, knives and guns! A 4WD convention next door would make it perfect. We'll have to work on that one. Now I open to suggestions on how to spend the whole weekend that close to Jerry without spending all my money on his knives.

Actually the event is being sponsored by the Flint City Knife Club and is being held in conjuction with the Georgia Mountain Production Gun Show.

"these lessor know makers" not sure about that

Rade Hawkins ABS Master Smith last years winner of the Red Watson Award.
Keith Kilby ABS Master Smith.
Ed Halligan ABS Master Smith. Kiss designer.
Jerry Hossum PKA officer at some point.
Bob Rosenfield ABS Journeyman Smith.
Jim Ragsdale has been attending Blade Shows for years.
I'll stop there those are some pretty major players for a small show.

Cant wait to meet some new folks there.

HBG. Thinking you are from my old home town.
and that you will be driving on 75.
Watch out for the speed traps around Dalton and in Cobb County when the limit is cut to 65mph.
See ya there. Hope to be able to wander the show with all of you. Calvin Cooledge and I will ride down together.

I'm thinking about going. If I do, I'd really like to meet you Gus. It would be nice to have a face with the name. Are you going to have a table?

Gus - Thanks for the correction on the Sponsor. I got the info from Rade Hawkins, after I re-read his email to me it did say "in conjuction" with GMProd. Rade was going to post the info on CKD as well.

Most people (even Newbies like me)

were probably familiar with the great Makers/MS's that you listed but we appreciate the extra info on these guys. I can also recommend the works of Mr Poole (very reasonably priced blades) and Wayne Hensley.

Do you know anything of the work of Mitch Kozloff, J.R. Adams, Frank Moody, Chris English, Rodney Shelton, Bill Bradberry or Mike Powell? I checked the ABS List, the PKA and the Knives 2001 and didn't come up with anything. Any info would be appreciated.

BTW, when did you depart Cleveland? Do your folks still live here? We are not originally from here, my wife and I moved here after I spent 6+ years in the Marine Corps and wanted somewhere quite to settle down.

Spent a bunch of time in Cleveland on my Uncle's tree farm (target shooting and hunting every weekend), but I am from Chattanooga.
Went to school in Atlanta and ended up staying. (more oppurtunity here in computers)

Am up on the Occee more often than I want to admit when the river is running. At 45 I still can not walk away from whitewater.

I had one of Frank Moody's hunters (small) for a while and sold it to a forum member.
Never used the knife, but the fit and finish were excellent. I like Marvin's and Wayne's work too.

I look a lot like this ugly dude at the Blade Show, but have a goatee now. If it is as warm on Saturday as it is today, I will try to wear the same shirt.

I do not sell anymore. (been about 3 years since I have had enough knives for sale to have a table at a show.) Want to keep the rest of what I have in my collection. Sure hope to meet all of you. Maybe we can work out a dinner on Saturday evening after the show.

Looking for a reasonable good quality folder? check out Jim Ragsdale and Paul Reynolds. Even if you are not, Jim and Paul are people you should make a point to meet.

Been thinking about some file work or customization? Check out Tom Stratton. Absolutly stunning work. I think he has done a commander or two for some guys on the forums. (Filework and/or rehandle).
Tom's work is excellent and his prices are more than fair. He as also done work for a couple of factories, some makers and a few dealers. His waiting list is on the verge of getting way too long so this is a good time to jump in.

Looking for somthing in Damascus, besides the Master Smiths - check out Bob Rosenfeld.
(another nice guy. He may be going for a Masters in a year or two, but I am not sure about that.)

I love Jerry's work and am hoping to be able to get to spend some time with him maybe even spell him at his table if he needs a break.
