Knife shows publicized only by secret handshake and sacred runes?

What is the deal with the knife collecting community and show promotion? I'm not talking about "gun and knife" shows: I can find their listings on a dozen different websites.

I'm talking about knife collector shows, up to and including the NKCA shows that are traditionally held in Louisville in the spring and fall. Their websites are often 2-3 years out of date and they seem to make little effort to promote the event beyond the word of mouth from the very same crowd that was at the last show. Seriously, how hard is it to put enough info on the web somewhere that a Google search can pick it up?

Case in point: when and where is the Central Kentucky Knife Collectors Club show being held? Give it a search and see how far you have to wander into the results before you find the answer. They have a website, but don't fool yourself into thinking that they have The date and location listed there----it's apparently way too much trouble to promote their show on their own site.

Blade is run by folks to make money

Every other knife show seems to be run by volunteers with poor organizational skills and it shows.

Somebody with a marketing background needs to get a hold of it and setup a system that anyone can follow.

That gives me the date and the city, but not the venue, which is my point. Have you found anything showing all three pieces of necessary info on the same page?

I'd try contacting some of the local exhibitors/makers. They might know.

Two shows that I attend, the Mason Dixon knife show in Hagerstown MD and the Chesapeake knife show in Timonium MD, are poorly advertised. Advertising costs money, but several publications, like Knife World, are free to post show ads. You're lucky if the Hagerstown show is advertisded at all, and the Chesapeake show is only advertised a couple months before the show itself. It also gets a blurb that week in the local City paper and the Baltimore Sun. The hotel that hosts the Chesapeake show puts a big banner on the side of their building to advertise the show, the building faces I83. That goes up the week of Thanksgiving, through the date of the show, usually the second Sunday in December. The Hagerstown show this year had a hand written sign, barely noticeable, on the corner from the actual event.

For other local shows, the Easton PA and Lewisburg PA shows, I see advertising for them many months in advance.
