I saw an add for a surefire crank in a field and stream magazine the other day and i really like its features but its price is a little high. I was wondering if anyone knew of a knife with similar features and from a company dedicated to making knives instead of flashlights.

First and most important question: Can I wave it?

I really don't know where they are going with the "Crank" or even the entire knife line up.

Bin the department and get us our new lights faster! I'm still waiting for the Optimus to be released, and it was advertized almost two years ago IIRC.

It was canned 2.25 years ago.

Get a good knife (benchmade 710 is a good one, as are lots of others) and a wrench, and if you really need it a rescue hook cutter.

The Optimus was canned? Where did you here this?

I am in agreement though, get a decent knife and tools to match. Don't try to multitask with it.

Not sure, but if you want tools and a decent blade look at a Leatherman Charge (variants). Good stuff.

If it can be waved, I'll find a way. I can wave your crank :p

It may not have been, but from the trips to SF headquarters around that time it never sounded like it would be made available, maybe something similar will come around eventually, but don't expect the Optimus to actually show up as it was.

That's not good. :grumpy:

i have a multitool already but i just really like the design of the knife. i especially like the line cutter and the holes for using it as a spear point
