Knife similar to the 2015 Bladeforums Traditional forum knife?

I managed to miss out on this years forum knife. With a wedding and a honeymoon this year, I kept putting off buying one, and then I discovered they were sold out. I really liked the size and handle shape of that knife, as well as the blade selection. So, I've been trying to find something similar from other makers, but I'm not having much luck.

Any suggestions on where I might find something with a similar handle and blade selection?

Thanks for any help, and Happy Thanksgiving!

Several companies make improved muskrat patterns with a clip and a Wharncliffe at opposing ends, but I don't think I've seen one with the sheepfoot.

Thanks Jeff. I wasn't quite sure what the pattern was called, so that helps a bit.

The closest knife I have in my collection is a 1975 Case 06247 PEN. About the same closed length (3-7/8"), serpentine frame, single spring BUT the secondary is a Pen blade, not a Sheepfoot. These are found regularly enough on the big auction site.
Happy Thanksgiving! OH

I like that option as well Old Hunter. I've been trying to find something in a shadow pattern, but failing that, I might have to look into one of those Case pen knives.

Or just save my pennies and have a maker build one for me.

The Northwoods mini moose is smaller but with a premium steel and same blade selection.

I did like the looks of that one JustinR, unfortunately, it looks like it's been discontinued.

Watch the sales forum. I'm sure some bought multiples while others won't feel it lived up to their individual expectations. You can't have in though ;-).

Funny you mention that, the Exchange is the first place I went. :-D No luck yet, but then I imagine most are still waiting to receive their knives.

I never realized just how hard it was to find a production model anything in a shadow pattern. Surprising, since you'd think adding bolsters would add to the cost.

Problem is StuntD that Shadow patterns are very much in the shadows, most uncommon except in Sodbuster or custom offerings. CASE have offered Stockman in the past as Shadow but obviously, they are not single-spring like the latest Forum Knife. Having no bolsters, Shadows will not be as sturdy as a knife with them, so wood or micarta are probably more durable choices than bone.

However, you could look for one of these Schatt & Morgans from 2008 and since 600 were made it ought to be reasonably easy to locate one. Nice bone on these, single-spring, pinned shield with Turkish Clip & Coping blade. Smaller than the Forum Knife at 3.5" shut, a nice and unusual carry.

I have to admit that to me a large clip-point and smaller sheepsfoot/wharncliffe is a very practical combination, yet it is very rare. One knife I know of that has this combination is a much smaller A.G.Russell Peanut.

Just be patient. One will eventually pop up on our for sale section or on an auction site. Most of these knives were small runs.

If you like that combo in the jack configuration then look up the Schrade 93ot/893.

The Schrade 899 gives that that blade combo with the addition of a punch as well and is one of my favorite knives ever.

I suspect we will see quite a few Forum knives at the exchange over the next few weeks. You will surely get a chance to pick up one.

I suspect you're right. In the meantime, I will just sit here and wait.

I must admit, the search is getting me interested in more traditional patterns again.
