Knife similarities

I noticed some striking similarities between a Boker/Magnum knife and a SOG knife, both of which are new for 2010. Was this a Boker design shared with SOG, a SOG design shared with Boker, or did both companies come up with a nearly identical knife design independently?

This type of thing is becoming more common and constitutes a trend. I don't know the specifics of this knife under discussion here though. It is certainly possible that the same designer was involved with both SOG and Boker and his role is uncredited in these ads. Looks like a um design.

However where I've noticed it specifically is with knifes manufactured in Taiwan and China for Taylor Cutlery. Taylor Cutlery is the distributor/manufacturer of a large number of knives under several brand names (Smith and Wesson, Browning, Schrade, etc.) I've seen identical blade designs marketed with different names on them up front from different companies and sold for different prices. All made by Taylor and produced in either China or Taiwan. I've then seen the same blade design turn up as a Fury Brand knife.

I can't sat that this is happenng here with SOG and Boker. But clearly this is the same knife design.

Gentleman, thanks for the information!

We are selling this knife (Gents Harpoon) since September 2009, we presented it in our Fall catalog...

... The SOG Fielder model seems to be launched in 2010.
