Knife sounds better than it is...

Local supermarket has a free kitchen knife promo. Fairly ordinary stainless knives (Thomas brand). We got a utility and a Santoku so far.
But... the matt finish and the way the knives resonate mean they make a great "shiiinnngg" sound as you take them out of the knife block. The sound the movies use for a sword being unsheafed! Makes me feel better about using an ordinary knife. Nice

Haha, I was prepared to read a negative review of a knife.

I love that sound. I wish I had a special effects team to follow me around and make that sound whenever I do anything knife related. I had a really cheap machete that would make that sound whenever it hit any brush. Unfortunately, it couldn't cut any of the brush, so I eventually had to upgrade to a machete without sound. Clearing the yard is not nearly as fun as it used to be (although it does get finished now.)
