Today I watched the movie "Training Day", there is a scene where Denzel's character has a would-be rapist up against a fence and is roughing him up.

He whips out a knife and sticks it against the guy's throat, and I couldn't help but notice it was definitely a serrated Spyderco, probably an Endura.

This was the first time I ever spotted a particular brand and model of a knife in movies or TV programs.

Anyone ever have a Eureka moment like that when you realized you were a knife nut, any point at which you realized that the obsession had taken hold of you?

I have noticed it a lot. I like to make a game of how many models or brands i can pick out either on tv or if you more of a challenge just by the exposed top and clip in some ones pocket

yeah, when you ask total strangers in the store if they have a knife to open something just to strike up a conversation, even though you couldn't decide on two knives that morning, so you threw three of them in your pocket/belt/watch pocket that day. :D

It was a serrated Police model. ;) I've known I was a knife knut since grade school. :D

I love it even more when the movie character just happens to be sporting one of the knives I own. My girlfriends always laughing at me when I'm like "look honey he's got my knife."

I've began to notice high end watches too. In a recent movie where Morgan Freeman and Antonio Banderas are cat burglars, I believe it's called "Code". Morgan Freeman is sporting a Breitling Co-Pilot, it retails for $5,900. I gotta wonder if this was Freeman's personal watch or if it was a prop. 5k is a lot for a prop. It was actually used in one scene to keep time on part of the robbery. I wonder if he gets to keep it if it was a prop. I'd make it part of my contract.

Yes, I must admit that I became a knife nut too. Nowadays, when watching survival/bushcraft-series on Discovey or series like NCIS and other movies I have become very curious which knives will be used.
