knife stands

Craig, I recently got one of the GH knife stands (the two-knife style) and was very pleased with it. However, it's a bit small for some of the larger khukuris. I was wondering if there might be a possibility of getting a larger stand for the larger khuks?

Steven,

I'm real short on stands right now (forgot to order more on the last shipment), but I DO happen to have two larger (longer) stands that would accomodate your 20 inch Ang Khola. You can have it for the same price as the normal stands. ($15.00 I think).

They are old inventory that I never sold because they didn't fit any of the knives I had when I ordered them (they are ideal for 20 inch varieties, which I only just brought in).

Hope that helps.

Craig, I'll definitely take one of the large stands off your hands. I'll email you about it a llttle later. Thanks

Got your email - I'll hold one for you until "next time."

Craig, you can go ahead and hold both of them for me until next time if they're both still available because it's just a matter of time before I have the khuks to fill them. Thanks

Craig, on another thread, you mentioned that you were going to have to reorder stands and you asked about what features we forumites might prefer.

Personally, I like the two-knife stands, because they enable me to display the khukuri as well as its sheath -- I simply place the sheath where the second knife would go, even though it's not a good fit. Which brings me to the point: why aren't stands available that are specifically designed to display both khuk and sheath, especially considering that some sheaths are works of art in themselves?

Steve: That's a good point. I hadn't thought of that. Perhaps the next evolution of stand will incorporate that feature (at least, it will be an option).

Speaking of khukuri displays and stands, it is my understanding that pairs of khukuris are often mounted for display on a wall plaque with the blades crossed. I’ve never seen any of these displays, but I’m guessing that the configuration would be similar to the “crossed khukuris” symbols that one often sees on the packaging of Nepali products. Since I saw the display stands that Craig is offering, I was wondering if there might be a market for a “display kit” for mounting two khukuris in such a fashion. I don’t know if such a product already exists, but I would certainly be interested in one. Of course one would need to have two khukuris of (approximately) equal size, but I’m sure that Craig would be more than happy to help remedy any deficiency in our khukuri collections

. My woodworking skills are not up to the task of crafting a suitable plaque for these fine blades, and I would really like to display some of my khukuris in a “traditional” way. Just a thought…
