After adding bunch of euro steels and their standard names interactive knife steel composition chart now has 520 alloy compositions and 2022 names :)

Basically, you can identify 2022 different steel compositions using it.
And that's obviously not everything. Titanium alloys are missing, I'm collecting data, but I have to change table schema to allow for proper composition display.
Plus bunch of other names and alloys from steel factories.

And as usual, if you find any incorrect data or have ideas on improvement I'll be happy to hear about it.

What do you mean no S30V? Did you try searching for it, either with browser text search or using chart search?

It's there, CPM S30V, has been since October, 2009.

In search you can type *S30V

Wow! Very impressive piece of work Gator! Thanks for making this available for us.

Oh, ok my bad. Can I find ZDP-189 there?

There's 3 ways to find steel(s) in there, that is besides visual search which is rather impossible with alternate names over 2000 now.

1) Most basic, load the full chart and click CTRL+F, type the name and hit enter, or F3 for some browsers.

2) Use search button and type in steel name there, plus you can use * for character masking(* means any number of any characters), e.g. CPM* will find all steels that start with CPM, *30* will find all alloys that contain 30 in the names and so on.

3) Go to steel comparison graph and type in the searchbox the name, and you can use * in there as well, there is autosuggest which will display top 25 matches to the current input string.

I think I wrote quite detailed help section on search, that might help.

Gator, this is a wonderful thing you've done for the knife and tool community.
I've referred to your site on several occasions and it has been a big help.

Thank you.

First of all, thank you for putting so much work into this chart!
Second, the composition of 90MnCrV8 (1.2842) is not quite correct: C 0,85-0,95, Cr 0,20-0,50, Mo -, V 0,05-0,20, W -, Co -, Ni -, Mn 1,80-2,20, Si 0,10-0,40 I put the data in the order of your chart.

Cool! Thanks for all the work.

A tip of the hat to you, Gator. That is a lot of work that is much appreciated!

Thanks guys. There's ver. 3.0 in works, with more capabilities.

Morales, thanks for spotting that :) Fixed.

gator i really use your info. trying to remember all the elemental percentages taxes my old brain. three or four times a week i go back to your data & always am thankful someone made this huge effort to aid the rest of us.
