I have been a spyderco, benchmade guy and was looking at maybe getting a traditional folder. I was wondering if anyone can tell me what Case's Tru-sharp steel is in comparison to other steels I am familiar with such as 440A, 440c, AUS8, 154CM, S30V ect.

I am guessing that tru-sharp would be similar to 440A but I'm not sure, can anyone tell me anything about it and what kind of performance you'd expect from it?

some discussions about that in the traditionals forum. they say tru-sharp is similar to 440HC or the one used in swiss army knives but i'm not sure about that. it also depends on the heat treat. heat treated 440hc in buck knives is an astounding knife steel.

Last time I emailed case a year or so ago they said 420hc. Although they may have meant equivalent to 420hc, but I'm betting they mean 420hc. Its decent for what it is and I like 420hc more than 440a.....but all depends on geometry and heat treat. Case does a decent enough job for what these knives are for, imho.
