Hi guys,
Recently I've been wondering about the best and most effiecient way for me to store and transport knives. Preferrably able to just transport them in whatever recepticle I already store them in, if I am ever moving or need to move them quickly, or something.
Currently I store pretty much all of my knives in a metal toolbox. It's great because I keep the knives in the main compartment and have a lot of knife maintenance/care supplies in the top, removable part. I store about 70+ of my best/favorite folders in there probably. The only issue I have is that moving it, for me, would be difficult, as it is quite heavy.
Since I have cerebral palsy and use a cane to walk I could only carry it myself with one hand, and given its weight, that would be tough for any measure of distance, even though I keep the upper body in good shape.
I like my current method of storage but for the fact that it is heavy to move.
So my question is, do you know of a lighter method of storage that would be easier to do so?
Some requirements if possible would be the ability to consolidate most of my folders and knife care supplies the way I do now, so I just have to move one case to move the bulk of my collection.
I would also really like it if the storage device could be locked up/kept safe in some way too. Currently I have a Master lock on the current case. I know that may seem overkill but I'm sure some of you will understand my desire to keep the collection at least somewhat safer and out of reach.
Can you guys recommend anything that is lighter or easier to transport in some way, that can also be locked up and kept safe?
I guess it's a long shot, but if I ever wanted to move my collection for any reason and needed to carry it any length I'd like to be able to do it without having to rely on anyone else if possible.
I like the way I do it now except for the weight of it, so it's been bugging me for awhile now and I wondered if anyone can help me.
Thanks everyone.
Also would be interested in how you prefer to store your collections, even if you don't have suggestions.
Some of my other folders are kept in a roll up cloth case that latches (but doesn't lock.)
I keep a few of my most current EDC knives in a plastic Tupperware storage container with a handle on the lid, that can be moved easily.
But pretty much everything apart from these few go into the toolbox and get locked up.
Thanks guys. I know if nothing else you'll understand where I'm coming from here. Appreciate your help.
