Knife storage cabinet

I have been collecting custom knives for 15 years. Have around 200 knives. I was at the blade show in Atlanta several years ago and talked to a fellow about his beautiful imported mahogany multi drawer cabinets in several configurations.
Haven't seen them since and the web site is no longer in existence.
Would like advise regarding ANY cabinet that could contain my collection, even if it meant buying more than one case/cabinet.
Suggestions???
Thank you!

Maybe try a Gerstner. I'm not sure if there's one that will fit 200+ knives, but they're definately big and spacey. They're also the "Rolls Royce" of knife storage;)

I wanna get one, but they're pricey. The usa made chests are around $400-600 for sufficient knife storage, but there isn't anything else out there like them.

Buy a standing gun safe and make some nice shelves for display. Then at night lock it up tight for piece of mind. That's my plan.

I am new to the collecting, but I also have been looking for something to store my knives that would be suitable for the top of my dresser. The Gerstner chests are awe inspiring, but since I am a "rookie", I am reluctant to spend that much on storage for my few blades just yet. I feel like I could buy some more knives instead.

I have been looking at this chest as an inexpensive, temporary solution. I have yet to lay hands on one to see if it is of acceptable quality.

If you want the knives to be visible you need to get a curio cabinet from an antique store and fill it with glass shelves.

If you want the knives in drawers for instance, the best bet is to find an old blueprint cabinet. The drawers are big but not too tall. Next best is to look at lingerie cabinets. The drawers are a bit taller but will hold knives in boxes/sheaths.

My "collection" is stored in multiple spots; one is a cabinet I built with magnetic board to hold fixed blades; some folders are in old silverware boxes, some in a husky tool box, some in the safe etc. It's a work in progress... :foot::rolleyes:;):D

At this point I'd have to knock down a wall to make more room in the mancave for knife storage... :foot::D:cool:

I've seen that chest at a local harbor freight. It's very cheaply made, it's equivalent to ikea furniture. My knives would be embarrassed if I stored them in it;)

Gonna pass along what someone told me when I asked for ideas about a dresser/counter top display case that could both allow viewing and keep items locked away. Many different humidors will hold a wide range of knives.

I'm thinking about a couple different wall mounted designs with glass shelves and lighting but still haven't made up my mind. Any large cabinetry with glass doors can be fitted for my needs with a few modifications to incorporate locks if stray from wall mounted.
