Knife Storage/Carrying Cases

So far, I have been storing most of my folders in a drawer in my dresser. I want to move most of them to some sort of carrying case. I have a relatively modest collection of just over 20 folders. Preferably, i'd like a case that has pockets instead of those little elastic straps that some knife rolls have. The more i can fit into one case, the better, but i'd most likely buy two anyway to have room to expand. I really like the Maxpedition Dodecapod but it only holds 12. Is there any similar case that will hold more than 12? as far as price, im looking to spend under $60. If you have any other suggestions on cases that you like to use, let me know. Also, any suggestions in general would be appreciated. thanks!

I found a wooden machinists tool box on Craigs list for $50 that I use. It has 4 full width drawers and the top portion. I have about the same number of knives as you and I keep them in the top drawer, Multi-tools and sheaths go in the 2nd drawer. I use the other drawers for small tools (torx, screwdrivers , etc) and sharpening stones.

Works well for me :D

i've seen those before...i may look into one. i just kind of like the idea of a case since its a bit more protective and portable. they also take up less space generally. i might just get both, thats usually the easiest solution. :D

I'm probably gonna catch hell from you guys, but because I have a large collec.that I've been putting together for a few years I just needed a quick way to store them and this works for me . I used some baby socks they protect the leather sheath, all handle types, they stretch real nice to fit a little longer knives(they also come in diff. sizes),you can put them in the washer if they get dirty, you can also put stickers on them also-thats about it-thanks,The Cheapskate

+1 on the Maxpedition Dodecapods. I have a couple and my entire EDC rotatation is in one right now.

I have a few of the Kershaw/Zero Tolerance knife bags and am very pleased with them.
They hold 18 knives.

The knee-jerk reaction is to snicker at that, but dang if thats not a pretty interesting idea.
Way to think outside the box! (pun intended :D)

I have a PVK 18 knife case but they're discontinued unless you can find one at eBay.
KC is selling what I believe is the same product with the Kershaw name on it.
I have a couple of the PVKs and they are what I use most often for toteing to club meetings and such.
Convenient size, well made, good protection.
Pockets are a bit tight for some folders.

Sackups are really pretty handy and provide good protection, only problem is they are a tad small...good for traditional but not so much for "tactical" size.

 I just got one of the "18" size. For the price, they are definitely
one of best. Very well made and will hold most any size knife.

Go with the ZT 0997 knife case or a Spyderpac. Both protect your blades well and are portable.

Boker makes some that are similar to the Maxpedition: they fold over and hold either 6 or 12 knives in furry little compartments.

Now granted it's not a Gerstner, but as I posted earlier, it only cost $50 :D

Now no making fun of my humble collection

thanks for all of the suggestions guys. it looks like its between a pyderpac, dodecapod, or a kershaw/zt case.

you could check out the tactical tool roll from countycomm.com. It has 15 pockets, made of a "thick" clear plastic(just the pockets). The outside of it is made of a ballistic type nylon (I believe)

That's a great chest, a great price and a great idea.
I've never been very happy with the rolls. A portable chest is next for me.
