Knife storage choices

Hey guys, I pulled out all my knives to snap a couple pics today, I got to wondering what everybody else is using for knife storage.

I'm currently using large Spyderco SpyderPacs:

To me they have both advantages and disadvantages.

On the plus side, they look great, give me compact and high density storage, and each knife has it's own pocket.

On the down side, they are rather floppy when you unfold them, and you need a fairly large surface to open them on. There isn't anything holding the knives in their slots, and if I try to open one on my lap, I always have several knives sliding out of their pockets.

So what do you guys use to store all your knives in?

I keep mine either in a metal box on my desk or in the boxes they came in. The boxes are nice because they stack and you know what brand and model you are pulling out. For carbon steel I put it in a metal box to help out with moisture control.

Hmmmm... I guess I expected more discussion on this one. I know that some of you guys have large collections, gotta store them somewhere.

I use knife rolls, 4 are the Case grey knitted material that have 12 pockets@ and 5 imitation leather and velvet rolls with 80 pockets@. One roll holds up to 24 peanuts but any knife much larger won't fit. I use a Kraft cheese jar(with lid) to store my solitary celluloid Case select peanut (I consider it to be my suicide bomber that can go corrosive anytime) I have been looking for a jewelry display case to display all of the knives but haven't located a manufacturer of them yet, I asked at a jewelery store but they didn't know where theirs were acquired.

The one or two I am carrying for the week are kept on my person or in my pocket dump on a dresser or bedside table. The rest are in the safe :)

The Spydies i store in the boxes they come in.
Except the users, which makes some emty boxes - which get a filler.
It's allways fun to open those boxes, is much like where you pick up the cards and have to know what's on the front.

Wooden cigar boxes cost a buck or two at tobacco stores, cardboard ones 25-50 cents.

I still yard sale a bit, I've been keeping my eyes open for jewelry boxes which are common at yard sales. I guess I could wrap one in camo duct tape or sumpin' to make it manly.
