Just got it today, already got it set up  I was hoping I could fit a few more knives in it, but at least I got the important ones in there. What do you think?

Once you start using pelican nothing else will do. I have some of their huge cases like the 1660 & you can load it to point that its just impossible for one guy to move. I have one loaded with 23 AK parts kits :-) it has quad rollers !
You will live them.

:foot: I think if you pluck the foam out vertically (top to bottom), you could have easily fit 3x as many in there.

Great choice for knife storage. If you only have a handful knives in your collection, the 1200 series will do. For a dozen knives or more, the 1600 series is perfect. You can store your folders vertically.

I had thought about the 1600, but I don't have that many "high end" knives that I want to store. The other ones are happy to sit in the drawer haha. Only my better knives will be going in this case.

Moisture retention in the foam would be my only concern. But I tend to fret over stuff like that. I have a Pelican 1600 case (suitcase sized) that I have never taken out the box.

I actually read that thread before I purchased this case. I think if people store high end electronics equipment in it (ie cameras), then some pocket knives shouldn't be any issue. I'll keep an eye on it for you and let you know how it works out if you'd like. Worst case I'll have to throw some silica gel packs in it. But I don't anticipate any problems.

i got the 1600 as a birthday present this past november...i couldnt be any more happier with it.

Just ordered the exact same Pelican case for my knives......downsized the collection to only six users. Thanks for the great idea!!

My laptop case is a 1500. Needs to be to fit the sub-station of a power brick it takes. best thing for long term storage would be a dryable silica pack. by the time you add one from a box of electronics its probably all used up, and then you are just adding water to the box. otherwise maybe something that is an oxygen grabber, like fine iron filings in a permeable bag.
besides you'll have them out weekly for a fondle and wipedown anyway, so why worry?
