knife storage

The folders that I use regularly are in this Plano tackle box. The fixed blades that I'm not using are stored in old socks in a drawer.

Get (Walmart) those plastic storage containers with drawers (Sterilite). Mine have wheels so I can push them to other rooms. I line the drawers with that soft rubbery kitchen cupboard shelf liner, so the knives don't slide around. There are small desk top units, tall skinny floor units. I have two big, wide, thigh-high floor units with wheels. There is room for everything including, over one hundred knives, boxes, sheaths and other knife related stuff. They are wide and sturdy enough to lay hawks, bayonets, and machetes (3) on top, as well.

got the same

I just carry one until I eventually replace it with something else that I find. I switch about once a year.

Bills custom cases 6 packs in the safe, for folders. My few fixed blades are lubricated, in their sheaths in various locations like pack, car, etc.

I store my less used ones in a small Spyderpac (then stack in sterilite container) but I like that idea for every day users!

Some of those glass covered cases are nice!

Right now I keep em all in my nightstand. But it's getting crowded and I have a young kid at home that is curious for everything. I'm looking for a lockable solution, up for any suggestions.

I'm using a Pelican 1120 case for the ones I carry. Case was like $20 and has pick and pluck foam. I use a Pelican 1400 for the rest. I've seen some guys use tool chests (top box) with the non stick liners.

Most recent purchases are stored in their original boxes after cleaning. Older knives without boxes are in Ziplock bags or loose in drawers.

I'm not obsessive about my knives. Knives are tools to me. They don't need any special attention other than being sharpened, cleaned and, maybe, lightly oiled before storing. I use several different knives I like to keep handy for backyard projects in outdoor cabinets. These I just wash down and spray with WD-40 before putting them away. Some of these knives are over 20 years old and, other than showing heavy use, they're in fine condition.

Well, I'm obsessive about my knives just like I am with my tools, and those get stored in a pretty nice tool cabinet in the garage. They deserve special attention and storage because they make life easier.
