Where do you guy's store your knives. I'm up to 50 pieces and no where to put them. Big & small knives (no swords, not yet). Thinking about going to the hardware store and making some thing any help. thanks Pete

This should prove interesting. All my wife allows me is some old cigar boxes stuffed under my side of the bed! Check out hte pictures of the collection of the gentleman named Vampire Gerbil that can be accessed from over on the community section.

It depends on what you have.

If we're talking about valuable collectibles, then I would discourage any sort of display case as it just makes them a target for thieves.

Myself, I store my collectibles in safe deposit boxes.

I have a three drawer tool chest that works great for me. All I had to do is add a liner to the drawers to prevent scratching. I too have around 50 knives, some big and some small, and they all fit in there just fine…with some extra room for my growing collection.

Display your knives. Art isn't made to be hidden away in a vault and hoarded.

Howdy fellow blade lovers, been out of the bf loop a bit of late but sittin in for a bit now and this subject takes some thought. As a group we probably range pretty wide as to type of collections, interest categories and monies spent on acquiring these sharp objects. I guess I'm probably in the middle somewhere. Yes I have a few customs and decent autos but my real users are mostly the better of benchmade and spydies. Probably the reason I DON'T collect is that with that I would want to keep all blades unused and NIB, in pristine condition. Yes I save boxes, got a whole box full o hoxes, but I tend to keep the blades in plastic sleeves to protect them and store them in different 'groups'. Partially for security (not all eggs in one basket) and partially for convenience this method serves me well and I can still 'share' my collection(s) with different persons depending on the interest level w/o dragging out a large group unnecessarily. As far as displaying vs. hoarding/hiding I tend to want to enjoy my blades but then again I'm not a 'collector". For some folks only a vault or security box would make sense. Perhaps for others a shoe box in the closet is sufficient. The decisions are yours, my only thought is to be realistic as to possible security concerns and weigh the risks with what is acceptable for your situation. Many ways to weigh the odds in your favor with the committed use of forethought and imagination. Enjoy.

For my folders I bought Spyderpac. One can hang it on wall and have a nice knife poster.
You can see it (not mine) here:

I still have a couple of empty slots. Good reason to buy more

.

I don't have good place for my fixed bladed knives. Also Sifu and some really thick folders like BM 9700 do not fit in and reside on bookself with my fixed b knives.

My "collection" is small and growing slowly. I keep some in a bureau, others in the gun safe. When away they are all in the safe. Several reasons, security, safety (kids), elements. Of course 1 or 2 are always on me.

A knife is by default a tool, it's only a weapon when a human chooses to make it so.

I had been keeping my knives in some boxes but recently began keeping them in display cases....I find that I get to enjoy them that much more. I found some reasonable ones from Smoky Mountain Knife Works.....

Thanks for the idea's folks. I think I'll get a wood tool chest and line it with felt like Jeff O said it could hold big & small knives.

I found a nice 10-drawer oak tool chest at costco (discount warehouse) from falconer very happy with it for only $119 I've seen one similar for $620. I have a little room left so I have to fill it up.
