I recently added 12 knives to my folding knife collection.
Some of these knives are very nice custom autos.
Where do most people keep their collections, in special knife cases?
I will purchase a gun safe soon, could knives be stored here?
Understood the previous threads recommending Break Free for blades & mineral oil for natural scales; ie. ivory & stag.
Fairly new to site, trying to get all the info. I can.
Thanks in advance

I would say a gun safe is a fine place to store your knives.

I would reccomend Rust Free for the blades. AG Russell sells it. It works awesome.

I coat all my knives, including Stainless and Carbon, in Renaissance Wax and then store them in Bill's Custom Cases. I don't believe there is a better system.

Where are you located?

Where I am, it's so dry I have to try pretty hard to get a knife to rust.
Below about 50% humidity it's easy to keep things from rusting. Above that and you have to be careful. Rule of thumb.

I store most of my knives in a craftsman tool chest.Cleaned the blades and most of the handles with Simichrome and then coated them with Renaissance wax.I throw a bunch of those moisture absorbing things that you find in new shoe boxes or electronic stuff.I think the most important thing is the Ren.wax.

Located in Northern N.Y. state where humidity can run high during the Summer month(1). Wood stove takes care of the other 11 months.
Previous owner of collection recommends break free for blades, stored in gun cabinet with golden rod.
I'll look into this ren. wax also.
Thanks
