Hey guys, Ill be visiting Chicago to watch a soccer game, any big knife stores around?

thanks so much

I live about 20 minutes south of Chicago, and don't know of any in the area.

There's one about an hour or two northwest of the city, Tom's Quality Knives. Their selection is ok...

It's the only knife shop I'm aware of besides GP Knives, which is pretty far south.

Mostly big box and gun stores, most of which will charge full retail if not more.

Northwestern Cutlery is right outside the Loop. I had some Old Hickory knives with no edge sharpened there and they had a pretty decent selection of modern folders in a glass counter. It has been a few years since I lived there so not sure what they have now but it was the best I found in city limits at the time.

Enjoy Chi and hit up Harold's Chicken Shack for those of us who aren't fortunate enough to get down with that 1/2 dark meat, salt &pepper with mild sauce! Drooooooool :(

Yea - GP Knives is in a St. Louis suburb, not really in Chicago area.....it's a beautiful store though and close to 55 when you are heading through - on the Illinois side.

Chicago??!! Might add a bullet proof vest to your list. LOL

Must...Not....Reply.........

thanks, Ill check out northwestern cutlery, don't worry about the bullet proof vest, I live in Guatemala, so a knife here is carried for self defense most of the time, youll get mugged by some 4 guys, no weapons just intimidation in the wrong part of town, and for everything else, theres my glock 23, loaded Cor Bon DPX, and my ankle rig has a S&W light 38 +P loaded with Hornady ftx Critical Defense and my trusty Microtech Scarab

nothing over 2.5 inches is allowed in Chicago and no autos so that's not really conducive to the knife hobby. Cabellas in Hammond right off of 80-94 in Indiana is probably as close as it gets. About 45 min drive from downtown.
