Anybody know any place?? I live in Old Bridge and there is really no stores that I know of out here besides Sports Authority and Walmart...Are there any "JUST KNIVES" stores?? Or at least gun/knife stores around?? Thanks in advance.

I sure hope so... I want to be able to go and check out a knife instead of just blindly ordering one online. I'll probably still order online because of the cheaper prices, but I want to at least be able to handle the knife and get the feel of it.

Good Evening All-

Al Polkowski is from Chester, New Jersey if you want to find him online. They used to have examples of his work over at KnifeArt. He is a custom guy, so we're not talking about off-the-rack stuff. He had some fantastic blades at the East Coast Custom Knife Show a few years ago. My experience is primarily with Pennsylvania craftsmen, though...

Well, that statement is real incentive to open a knife/bladeware store, Kevin! If you visit a retail vendor and receive solid, courteous, accurate assistance, you owe them some of your business. Intentionally wasting their time and playing with their stock so you can turn around and place your order online to save a few pennies is not honorable. They need to keep the electricity running and pay people a wage...

Not a slam on online purchasing, but give the brick n' mortar guys some of your knife-dollars, too. Sorry to momentarily sidetrack the thread.

There are bound to be several good retail locations in a place as densely populated as the Garden State. Good luck with your ongoing New Jersey research...

Harry's Army-Navy...
route 130 near the Great Adventure exit on the Turnpike (I think it's 7A)

Harry's Army and Navy is going to be your best bet. You can also try Ramsey's Outdoor Store. There's one in Ledgewood off of Rt. 46 and one off of Rt. 17 North.

I was going to mention Effingers on Rt 28 in Boundbrook. How about Ray's Sport Shop on Rt 22 in North Plainfield? I know a lot of LEO's go there for the indoor shooting range, and they carry a lot of firearms.

Glad to see there are some places around here!

Yea, I didn't mean it like I would never buy from them. I will probably end up making half my purchases from the shop, because if nothing else, I will probaby not be able to wait for the mail! But I agree that these places def. deserve some of my dollars to stay open and I will support them to some degree.
