There's really only one store that has a clue about knives that I've found living near CS for the past 5 years. That's Specialty Sports on the south end of town. Other stores sell knives, of course, but these guys actually seem to know what they're selling.

There is a shop in the Citadel Mall. The last time I was in there they had a fairly good selection of Benchmade, Kershaw and William Henry, including a limited edition WH that I drooled over for awhile.
Their prices, however, are at or near retail.

I'll second Specialty Sport & Supply.

Each of the malls have knife stores (owned by the same guy). Nothing special -- and pricey.

There's a "knife and sword" shop in Old Colorado City, but I've never stopped to check it out.

There are a couple of local makers you might want to check out as well. Mike Irie and Robert Shultz do great work for reasonable prices. I don't have their #'s at hand, but I'm sure they're in the phone book.

The "knife and sword shop" is probably "Prince of Thieves" which sells ornamental stuff like Home Shopping Nework. I wouldn't bother with that.

The "Blade Shop" at 24 E. Bijou is pretty small and pricey. They also have a lot of ornamental stuff. It was one place that had Colorado Cutlery at one point. I've only bothered to go in once, the malls were better.

An interesting place is "The Mountain Man" in Manitou Springs (off highway 24 just west of Colorado Springs). They have knife making supplies and some less common rustic looking knives. They tend towards things like buffalo skinning knives, tomahawks, and black powder arms.
They also have things like cheap Opinels and Swedish hunting knives.

The malls are pretty good as mall outlets go. The one in The Citadel mall has a brand or two of customs.

The most interesting place is Specialty Sport and Supply which is a kick-A gunshop. They have the broadest knife selection in town.
