Well I'm leaving for Virginia, is there any good knife stores to visit if Fairfax?

Thanks
Nick

ps:if you have a MUST SEE store email me

I don't know of any off the top of my head. However Fairfax county has more money than they know what to do with it, there must be a couple good ones :)

In Fairfax County, you have Chesapeake Knife and Tool in Fair Oaks mall. There is also Galyans (big sporting goods store) not far from that. There are also CKTs in Tyson's Mall, Dulles Town Center, and the Manassas Mall. None of them are particulary exciting, but it's all we have around here. I have yet to see a good knifeshop in Va.

There was supposed to be a gunshow in Bealton (about an hour from Fairfax) this weekend, but it got canceled. There can be a good selection there.

Nick: I live in Fairfax. MTNBKR covered the good ones in the area. BTW MTNBKR, I live about one mile from Galyans and the mall, maybe we can link up sometime. Another spot is Knife center in MD. That is a good Saturday trip. They will open up if you call in advance and have all the big brands and price matching. Please e-mail when you get in town, maybe all of us can meet somewhere.

Regards,
Doug

Smithd,

Yeah, we'll have to do that some time. I keep missing all of the NoVa/DC/MD get togethers that get mentioned on BF. I was unaware of KnifeCenter. Is it a regular store with an Internet presence or an Internet operation that will open it's doors to us Knuts?

I can't say how disapointed I am with the selection in Va as a whole. In all of my travels, Boston, Mass (Stoddards, IIRC) and Cary, NC (can't remember the name, but the owner is a forumite) had the best shops I've seen.

Chris

MTNBKR: Knife center is an internet dealer that will open its doors for regular retail sales if we call in advance. They are good folks there. BTW are you the mountain biker that practices stump jumping at the Ox Hill battlefield? If so we have crossed paths many times.

Regards,
Doug

I own a knife store in Winchester VA. I think it is a reasonably nice knife store. I carry about 50 different major brands of knives (As far as I know I am the only store in VA that carries the Opaki's from South Africa.) I also have a full case of handmade knives. I have a 20ft wall filled with swords (including some handforged ones). All of this in under 600 sq. ft.

Mostly, I'd like you to stop by if you get a chance, check out the store and tell me what else I need to make it a truely great store.

Thanks,
Pam

Cool, I'll have to check them out.

No, that wouldn't be me. First, I haven't ridden much in the past year or so. Second, my usual haunts are 1) Accotink Park in Annandale, 2) Difficult Run in Reston, 3) C&O Canal Towpath, 4) George Washington NF (I hunt there as well).

BTW, where is Ox Hill?

Chris
