I will be in San Diego between 8/13 and 8/26, are there any good knife stores in town?

Jason,

Contact Dennis Wright at wrightknife@ixpres.com and get directions to his shop. He's a great guy with a REALLY great selection. It'll make the whole trip worthwhile.

I was in San Diego a few months ago and stopped by for two or three hours. I wish it was a little closer than 1500 miles or so. Then I could go back.

I will agree that Dennis Wright's shop is the place to visit. His selection includes hard-to-find knives, too. Awesome selection, excellent service.

Yup, Dennis has a better selection of Spyderco, Buck, Benchmade, CRKT, Chris Reeve and other stuff than anyone in the area.
Plus, he's a neat guy to talk to!

I emailed him and here is the response I got, with directions from I-15:

Jason, the address is 8759 La mesa Blvd., La Mesa. The name of the store
is Wright Knife & Sporting Goods.

Take the 8 East to Jackson Dr. Turn right on Jackson, go to La Mesa Blvd.
I'm on the southwest corner of Jackson & La Mesa Blvd. in a little complex
called La Mesa Village. Its the corner unit.

I'm open from Around 10:30am to 6pm Tues. - Sat. I will be there Tues,
Wed., Thurs. next week. I have to go to Costa Mesa for a show on the 18th,
19th & 20th.

Looking forward to meeting you.

Dennis Wright

Here is the phone # 619-465-6905

Thanks for the tip everybody, I will definitely check it out, are there any others?

Ditto for me too. Dennis is a great guy who will take the time to talk with you. I will buy my next blade from him. His shop is great with a fantastic collection.

He is a great guy.

Well I went to see Dennis at Wright Knives in La Mesa last week. The store was very neat and well kept, it was obvious that a lot of care had been taken in organizing and maintaining the store. Dennis had a great selection of BM, Spyderco, CRKT, REKAT, and many other brands of knives. There was also just about a full line of CRK knives, and he let me drool on a Sebenza

All of the display knives were in very good condition, smooth and clean - I guess this should be expected, but I've been to many knife stores where the display knives were in quite poor shape - I was glad to see that this was not one of those stores.

Dennis was very friendly and knowledgeable, patiently showing me almost every knife in the store. I spent several hours there, and could have stayed longer. He even gave me free passes to a gun show in Costa Mesa (thanks again

- my father and I had a great time), where I saw him and said hello earlier today.

Wright Knives has great prices on most of their BM knives, many at below internet prices. I bought an AFCK, and definitely would have bought something else as well if I had had any more money.

He doesn't have a website up yet, but said he will do mail order, so give him a call or email if you're in the market for something. Dennis is a top rate guy with an excellent store, and I highly recommend him. If you're ever in the San Diego area, be sure to stop by.

I'd like to thank those of you who recommended Wright Knives to me and I'd like to thank Dennis Wright for a great knife store shopping experience, the gun show passes, and the AFCK.
