I'll be in Napa Valley the 11th - 15th of August. We will be venturing in to San Francisco on occasion and even though it is my honeymoon, I don't feel my knife shopping should be curtailed. :)

I did a google search for knife and/or cutlery stores in San Francisco and got lots of hits. I'm mainly looking for traditional patterns.

thanks!

Congratulations on your wedding!

There's a knife store on Pier 39, near Fisherman's Wharf, that has a pretty good selection. It even has some CRKs, William Henrys, and some customs. Prices aren't that great though.

Thank you.....

I'll check that place out. I know we'll be near Fisherman's Wharf at least one day.

The shop on Pier 39 is called 'We be Knives'. Good selection, no junk, 'cheapest' knives are S&W. You might find some unusual items - I found a nice Bob Lum design made by Seki of Japan. Prices are mainly rrp, but I have gotten discount on higher-priced items. Nice part is that because it's in the heart of the tourist area there are plenty of shops your wife can browse through (jewellery, freshwater pearls, fashion clothing etc) , so you won't be upsetting her by taking her there. It can be hard to find - as you walk onto the pier it's about 50 yards in to your right. On second thoughts, why not take your wife in with you? She might like a Spyderco Native as a honeymoon present? Enjoy San Francisco!

Great info....thank you.

I'm not sure about a Native for her. She has a Byrd Finch in her purse and that seems to be more than sufficient. I did however catch her flicking open my Kershaw composite Leek the other day...there might be some potential..we'll see.

+1 on Tadgear

Contact edcknives.com too. He doesn't have a store front but lives across the bay and will meet with you.

Wow I have not been to SF in something like 30 years but I am surprised that they are allowed to be there. Just kidding.

If you got to Tadgear you have to know how they operate. Theyre 'open' only on weekends. You can get in on weekdays but you have to band really loudly on there 'garage' door.

I sent my gf and sister and her bf there one time to pick something up for me when I couldnt make it. They scared the crap out of them because the wharehouse was darkish, they closed the rollup door behind them and they were all playin around with alot of knives...

TAD gear is a must. Every time I go I spend a good hour and a half just talking gear with the sales staff. They're as laid back as can be, and the blades they personally carry are just as impressive as the ones on sale. The store on Pier 39 is cool too; good selection from many manufacturers.
