I am going to DC for the weekend and I was hoping to get some info on any knife stores in DC or Northern VA. Thanks.:)

Chesapeake Knife and Tool Company is the biggest one that comes to my mind. They are in all the big retail malls in the area. If you really have time maybe you can meet up with Matt D and he will show you stuff you sure won't see there!

Mountain Bear Guns and Knives in Sterling Va over by Dulles Airport. I bought my first Randall there over 10 years ago. Not a real wide selection, but definitely have some nice customs.

I've lived in NoVa for 7 years and lived in Ashburn (just down rt7 from Sterling) for 3 years. I never heard of that place. Got an address?

If there is anyplace IN DC that you can buy a knife, I wouldn't be suprised if there were also Cops waiting outside to arrest anyone who would want to buy one of those nasty knives!!!

DC is not too kind to gun owners, and I know my Dad had a very small slipjoint Pocket knife confiscated by a DC Cop going into the DC Mint. This was not recently either (since September 11th) this is like, 15-20 years ago!!!

Watch out!!!

The only places I've noticed where the "martial arts" stores here and there. I carry knives in DC all the time, never had a problem.

What was the blade length? As long as it was less than 2.5", the cop had no authority. Blade length in DC is 3", in federal buildings, it's 2.5". It's usually posted with the specific statute. I was in an IRS building recently and they had the law posted right next to the metal detector.

Yeah, Chesapeake Knife and Tool Company is all over....go to Georgetown on M Street where there are tons of stores, etc. (great place to go as a tourist) and go into The Shops At Georgetown Park...it's a classy, 3 floor mall...go onto the 3rd floor and you'll find that store. Personally, I think it's shite...bunch of Kershaw knives, a few popular models of Spyderco's and a couple Benchmades. The rest of the store has fantasy figurines and cheap swords. But hey, you can go if you want:p. Georgetown is a fun place anyway, so you might as well.
