Does anyone know of good knife stores in the northeast? I'm on vacation for a couple days, and am in the mood to see some knives in person. Thanks.

about 15 miles south of Boston, Sawyer's Cutlery, Rt 53 in Hingham. Well stocked knife dealer. I go there whenever I am in need of a blade fix.

The northeast is pretty big,how about narrowing down a bit?

I live near Syracuse, New York. So, the closer the better, but I'm not too adverse to driving a state or two over if the store looks really interesting.

Thanks for the info IUKE12, I'll check them out.

I'm into knives like Fallkniven and Bark River (maybe some Al Mar), more traditional looking knives, but also have Benchmade, Becker's too. Would love to see a Chris Reeve in person...

Thanks again. Got the bug bad, always do this time of year, and some money, not a good thing.

Sawyers Cutlery has great deals on E-bay as well, always treated me right w/online purchases, although I try like hell to stay as far away from Mass as possible. If you ever come to Maine, Kittery Trading post has a good knife counter (both new and used), as well as thousands of guns/gear, etc. Your women can shop downstairs, as they also sell clothes and SHOES!!!!! When ever I ditch my wife in the shoe department, I get at least 45 min upstairs in the gun/knife section before she hunts me down. Distraction works every time!

To add to the list Cove Cutlery in Ri and Freeport Knife Co. in Maine.

If your in Boston find Stoddard's of Boston it's in the Prudential building usually they will have CRK, WH, Randall, and some other customs. Also great selection of nice Kitchen Cutlury. If your in the city this is the place you should go to.

stoddards on temple place is closed. it is now in the chestnut hill mall in newton, and had all of like 20 production knives. i miss the good old days when they had the BM balisongs and all the spydercos

and chesapeake knife and tool is no longer in the natick mall, and from what i hear, no longer in quincy market either. I end up driving to kittery, maine.

Jude,

Stoddards has a shop in the Prudential Build's mall. I forgot about the Chestnut Hill location. I hear that On the Edge in in the old Quincy Market space.

in the pru mall? i need to check that one out!! is it like the temple place store? that place was the mecca of knives for me when i was going to school in boston. i shed a tear when i heard it was closed. i haven't heard of on the edge, how is it?

Actually it WAS at Copley, which is joined by the skywalk bridge to Prudential. It closed down last Spring. I know the owner well and the workers because I used to work next door to them at Mont Blanc. They are looking into another location in Boston last I heard, but still maintain their Chestnut hill location.

The reason they do not carry as many production models was the clientele they used to attract who were looking for high end cutting accessories for the kitchen and razors.
I used to bring over my Busses and talk shop to them about Randalls.

Thanks Steve, I havn't had the chance to get to Boston in the last year. Now I don't have to have the disapontment of see the store closed. :(

I visited Cove Cutlery in Rhodie in July.I just happened to be in the neighborhood to eat at the Nordic Lodge
It definantly is a little too far from Syracuse/Central NY for a day trip.It wasn't the worst knife shop I've been to,but I was a little disappointed how small it was and the prices were a little to high, even for a brick and mortar. They did have some semi-custom slip-joints though, which seemed reasonable, and were quite nice.In my opinion the only shop that was worth a trip just for knives was Cubeta's in CT.They had a fairly decent selection of Custom/Production folders and fixed blades. My last trip which was awhile back, they had quite a few Randalls,Chris Reeves,Benchmades,Emerson,Spyderco.Several Terzoulas and a few other great makers.

Too far to drive just because, but if youre ever in TN, visit Smokey Mountain Knife Works. We're talking WalMart, Sams club or BJ's size, containing anything you could ever possibly think to sharpen (and things you couldnt think of). Coleman Outlets are right next door too.

Country Knives in Intercourse PA, about 45 min outside and West of Philadelphia PA. Website is Countryknives.com
A bit pricey, but the people are very knowledgable and the selection is mind boggling huge. Check out their website and see for yourself.
