Is there a listing of good knife stores anywhere? Specifically, I'm in Worcester, MASS, but I'm new to the area. The Yellow Pages aren't knife-friendly (I guess so many people use them for targets that they don't list knife stores!). I would also like to find out about knife laws around here (I assume a local knife store probably knows all about that, though), since I have heard that they are pretty harsh.

JB,

On the BladeForums Home Page is a "Links" area. This will take you to a good list of website knife stores. Some of these might have retail stores in your area. Hope this is of some help.

I am in Mass and was amazed that most of the knife stores have gone under. It looks like the low overhead of the internet dealers is tough to compete with. If you do a search, or just lurk for a while, you'll see lots of 'net dealers to choose from. It works great if you don't need to handle the knife first, and know what you want, and trust the QC of the manufacturer.
As for the laws, they seem to be vague here, no dirks/daggers, (a fixed blade with double edge is a no-no), and no autos, 4 in folders should be okay, just be discreet and dont do anything stupid, LEO has a lot of discretion. Dont quote me, this is what I've gathered from other peoples posts.

Not sure about the Worcester area but most gun shops carry knives also.I can tell you in the Boston area pickings are pretty slim. The ones that come to mind are Stoddards,Chesapeake and Remington and all are way over priced. An example is last week I stopped in a Remmington shop at the local mall and they were selling a older SpyderCo Moran with leather sheath for $170. They were also selling the BM eclipse from a couple of years ago for $75 they didn't even have the newer models. There are other Mass people on here that might know of knife stores closer to you.

It's not a knife store but you're not far from the NCCA knife shows in Marlboro Mass.
If you're in Conecticut stop in Cubetas Field and Stream on rt.66 in Middlefield for a good selection of custom and factory knives. I feel lucky to live near a knife shop. It's always a good tempory fix for the knife habit just to stop and look around.
