Well, seems that my poor gerber harsey is not enough already :P (but ill buy the spyder co 204 to sharp my gator and harsey hunter.)

My first 2 choice for next knife are:

#1;
MOD Nightwing (double serrated) (S30V steel)

#2;
MOD CQD Mark V Dieter ATAC (double-edge) (black blade) (A-2 carbon steel)

#3
MOD CQD Mark 1 (Not automatic) (but too expensive)

BTW, I really like black blade ;)
But these are mainly for collection, since they are fighting/survival knife.

I don't know what to buy for a survival knife. Busse are really great looking (and im sure they perform very well from what ive read in this forum) but i dont know where to find them.
Also, i dont know good site to buy from.

I dont know what you can suggest me, here what i want :

A good hunting/survival knife;
A nice steel;
Not a cheap knife. (well, price range from 100$usd - 200ish$ usd should be nice)
And ill buy the spyderco 204 sharpening system.

I like medium blades. or good balanced blade/handle size. Like the nightwing, or like my harsey hunter. I dont really like machete since theres no jungle here.

So, what knife should be nice ? (i want it sharp, since it will be my first really sharp knife, but maybe its more of sharpening.)

Thx. :)

Check out these knives:
Swamp Rat Knives

Great knives spawned from Busse, (and affordable.) I have the Battle Rat and just ordered a Howling Rat, the Battle Rat is the best large survival knife for the $, IMO. They also have the best warranty imaginable.

Another vote for Swamp Rat.

If you want to stay with a medium size blade, the Howling Rat is your knife, IMO. That been said, If you are looking for the best survival type knife for your price range, you need to take a look at the Camp Tramp and the Battle Rat. The Battle Rat (9 1/2 in.) is the prefer knife of many, but the Camp Tramp (7 1/2 in.) is the strong second, and is closer length wise to your preference.

Stupid questions...... do i always need to sharpen the new knife i buy with a sharpener ? Thats maybe a stupid question, but i think that my brand new gerber cant cut very well.

When you buy a new knife by a GOOD company... you should never need to sharpen it fresh out of the box. I have never seen a dull Spyderco out of the box. I hear Benchmade has some sharpening issues, but I've gotten two so far, and both have been razor sharp NIB... I can't imagine getting a dull Busse or Swamp Rat...

Check out Bob Dozier. I just traded for a KS-3 Professional Guide knife that would be at home in the hunting field or in a tactical situation. His web site is www.dozierknives.com He is the undisputed master of D2!!

After getting some helpful advice from this forum and doing a lot of reading, I got a Kershaw Vapor as an edc folder awhile back. It is inexpensive, but by no means "cheap." More recently, I decided on a Becker Crewman for my rugged, medium size, general use outdoors knife. It seems like a lotta bang for the buck, and versatile enough for typical use as well as heavy duty use. Mine should be coming in about a week . . .

When I read your post, I kept thinking Swamp Rat. Like just about everyone here, I'll vote for a nice sized Swamp Rat. Tough, sharp knives with a great company and warranty for their knives. Another, less expensive alternative may be the Becker knives. The Companion or Crewman may fit the bill of a 'medium' sized knife for your needs. Hope this helps.

Beckers are great for a very good price.

Benchmade has a couple of knives that could work for you, like the Nimravus and Nimravus Cub, or even the Rant Bowie or Drop point (which you can get for around $40).

Ontario's Tak 1 and Rat 7 are good knives.

The Buck Strider Solution comes to mind, too.

And of course, check out Falkniven.

I know you like black blades, but you should definitely check out Bark River Knife and Tool for great hunting knives.
