I thought this might be an interesting thread.

I'll start with a few:

Smoothest Opening
: Tom Mayo folder or Lochsa
Loudest lock-up sound: Scott Cook Locsha
Best Detent: Tim Galyean
Best Thumb-jimping: Galyean Pro-Series Lahar, and I love the jimping on my flat TNT, though it's on the handle.

Best cutter-Opinel.
Best piercer-not sure
Best flipper-BM42
Best weight-to-strength-not sure, but I'd sure like to know. Izula?
Best value: Millions of threads started on this, so I won't speculate.
Best handle material-Spyderco's FRN.
Best lock-Axis is probably a strong runner. Framelock too though I personally hate them.

Best knife in the world - the one at your disposal when you need it.

Best theoretical knife---the one that you DON'T have when you need it and are yearning for while you're making do with the best knife in the world.

Best overall EDC for features, price, feel, quality, warranty = Benchmade Mini Griptilian.

Best weight-to-strength-not sure, but I'd sure like to know. Izula?

I've read about folk saying that the humble Old Hickory blades have done surprisingly well in Noss' destruction tests. Given their thinness, they might be a candidate for this category.

The most recognized folder IMHO... Buck 110....

Given that I and many others will never hear this firsthand, how about someone with a Lochsa and a microphone post a .wav or .mp3 file of this? I would love to hear it.

I don't know if it'll top the tuh-clack of my small classic locking up, but would love the opportunity to judge for myself.

And how about "Easiest to disassemble/clean/reassemble?": Sebenza

I found this on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQ33lLwFIVM

The videos don't really do it justice at all. I just did one of mine, and it doesn't really sound like anything special, so I won't post it.

I'm gonna go ahead and say it, even though a million people will tell me I'm wrong.

Best universally useful knife: SAK

Hey, thanks misterjuiceman. I appreciate the link. You're right... I imagine the video doesn't do it justice. Was expecting more of a ka-chunk instead of that cli-click. Still.... thanks.

no problem. it's a click but it's a really loud and sharp click. it's unlike any other framelock I've had. actually most of my framelocks are very quiet (Mayos and Umnums), but it's much louder than the XM-18, Pro-Series Lahar or any other linerlock or framelock I've ever encountered.

Poorest quality knife:

The picture doesn't do justice to how cheap this knife seems. The liner is thinner than the tolerances on the Sebenza  it's unbelievable that it's almost the same price as a Spyderco Persistence
