I was thinking how come nobody has come up with a knife that glows in the dark. That way, you can always find it and no groping when the lights go out.

Even if it may not be that practical, its novelty effect will be a blast.

Make that glow knife a folder with a three-inch blade and it may just be a winner! :)

I like that idea - you could even use tritium although that would make the knife pretty expensive.

Come on...
Look at Victorinox.
There do also exist some knives with tritium vials inside, so you can better find them, or whatever.
Spyderco Military, MT Halo, MT UDT (Tritium dot on the fireing-button)and IIRC there is a knife by Tom Anderson that glows in the dark.

Yes, they´ve been done before, I wonder how come they aren´t more common. If you want it should be easy to add a fob that glows or put some glow tape on one.

i have also wanted a high-quality production glow-in-the-dark knife. a mini Grip or a Delica, schnikeys! that'd be great!

I have a tritium glowring in the spacer of my spydie military... 5 holes drilled along the length for output.

haves pics around here somewhere.

knifekits.com has that luminous stuff that you mix with epoxy. Takes light to "charge" it up. Neat stuff and quite affordable. ;)

okay, Vampyrewolf, i'm gonna need some smutty glow-in-the-dark knife pics! oh, and they don't really have to be smutty. in fact, i'd rather they weren't. :D

Camillus did this about forty years ago with it's Camco 'Spook' line of knives. All of them I've seen still glow in the dark, once charged by a flashlite.

i remember some time ago somebody posted a kickazz homemade folder in the gallery. it had a blue tritium vial inside.

glow powder can be had from several places, and could probably be painted into some of the areas of a knife that aren't subject to contact.
i sometimes use a dusting method to apply it to the inside of flashlight mods, so that the glow powder can be seen through the optic. it's a very cool effect.

Someone may be in a better position (or have a better memory than me) to correct me, but as I recall Spyderco had one in a pre-production phase called the Military Police. Looked like a standard Military, but had a black coated blade and a tritium insert. Can't beat that for "tactical looking," can ya? :p geegee

Chernobel Knifeworks has the market cornered.
Yeah, with tritium inserts you can find your knife in the dark, but if your buddy worked there, you can find him in the dark to help you find your knife. geegee

Tritium only lasts ten years!!
Thats funny cause Im sure the waste from it lasts a lot longer than that.
We've got tons of it up at Hanford. Unfortunately right by the Columbia river.
Im pretty sure I was glowing last time I went swimming in it..
:barf:

On the glow in the dark thing. Im thinkin limited apps and gimicky. So a SAK is a perfect stopping point. I don't want to glow in the dark in general.
Although a couple of dots for indexing the blade has merit. Saw something like that recently around here.

A Surefire class light which unobtrusively fit the handle of rockin tactical knife would really rock my world, as Im sure you will all agree. :D

I saw a glow in the dark sword once. I think a few guys had them in Star Wars. Don't know where to find one yet though?

yeah, these are available already, but they don't actually cut anything. they're expensive as HECK, too!

well then lets not forget sting, orcrest, glamdring and the like :D

tritium can be had in several different sizes, but the large ones are very expensive.
it would be nice to have a couple of the regular ones inserted into milled grooveos.
