I was in a rush one morning and forgot to take my minigrip out ouf my pocket, so it went through the wash:(. Could this have any bad effects on the heat treat? so far it seems fine.

Does your washer or dryer incinerate your clothing ? If not, then it should be good.

No, it doesn't get hot enough to hurt the heat treatment.
When I was a kid my mother used to say I had the cleanest jackknife in town because she was always finding it in the washing machine....

Besides all that-you are suppose to wash clothes in cold water to save energy. Caught you! The energy police will be coming along soon.

It'll be fine. My mini has been dunked in the Atlantic and then rinsed under hot water. No harm done. You might want to add some lube (Militec, Break-Free, Tuff-Glide, etc.) to the pivot and AXIS areas just to get 'em nice and slick again.

My Stellite bladed, mastodon handled pocket knife has been through the wash several times.

I credit the fabric softener for making the pivot silky smooth for me. And it smells nice too.

I've sent a few through the wash. My wife usually says "Oh by the way, I cleaned your knife for you today... along with all the jeans." They all are fine.

Has happened to me a few times too. Fortunately I've never heard of a knife opening in the wash or dryer. That would suck to open the drier to find all your clothes sliced to ribbons.

Oh heck no. It would be the sharpest end all be all knife ever, able to resist getting tumbled against the fired ceramic coating on the dryer drum, and cut denim on contact.

Cheap price to pay to find out you have the real "never needs sharpening" knife of all time, bad detent or not.

I had a knife that took a couple rounds through the wash about 8 years ago. The second time it ended up open and locked. It didn't cut anything that I'm aware of, but the tip was pretty ragged. Luckily I was able to sharpen it out. There will always be a little ding on the top of the blade, as a reminder. That was the last time I missed a knife in my pockets.
