Bottom line up front: folder, under $80, semi hard use, 2.5"-4"
im putting one of these on my rifle
http://store.btitactical.com/guamcawifl.html
i want to keep a knife in there forever and ever and ever. it will stay in there whether the rifle is in the safe or rifle bag or being used or whatever. i dont hunt so no skinners needed. i will have some allen wrenches and prolly a bore snake too. maybe some other misc crap too. I always carry a leatherman blast on my hip so NO MULTITOOLS. i will also have a RAT RC4 or kabar in my range bag. im looking for a hard(ish) use knife i can throw in there. i have a BM grip, emerson cqc7, spydie endura, but im looking for something else, something different.
suggestions....? thanks!

spyderco salt.

if its going to basically sit in there, something corrosion resistant (or even rust proof!) seems appropriate.

You could get a Blackhawk CQD Mark 1 Type E......got mine today.....laid it next to my MOD CQD Mark 1, and was amazed.....the Type E is definitely are rock solid knife with excellent lockup, fit and finish, etc.....not to mention its got a glass breaker and seatbelt cutter.....MSRP is $99, but I got mine for $69 shipped priority mail.

I agree with a Spyderco Salt series knife (FB or folder). That seems to be the best bet considering what you'll already have on you.

Another for the Salt but, I would recommend the SE because the edge will last longer in a "rough" situation if it comes down to it...and just look/post in WTB and I'm sure you'll find one...

i think the salt series is your best bet. several variations; size, color, shape, serrated, plain, etc. and they won't break the bank so you won't feel too bad about leaving it in the pouch.

i like the atlantic salt's sheep's foot blade. i have a yellow and black that i picked up for $50 each (thx eric!).

I Suggest Either ANY One Of the 5.11 series of knives, depending if you like tanto or Spear point they have all In and even Under you price reange and they have a Hammer/crusher pommel too-http://www.911tacticaldirect.com/5-11knives.html

OR, EVEN BETTER, Better felling knives In My Opinion are the Timberline Tactical DELTA series. Great Blade shapes and Still have Hammer/Crusher Pommer(You said HARD USE) I think any "Hard Use Folder needs that) And Nice G10 slabs. Different color too.-http://www.bluelinegear.com/p-147-delta-knives.aspx

I like those a Small Better then the 5.11. You can Find Under 100 easy. Just gave Bluelinegear Link because of good Pictures. And you say you want to keep it there "For Ever and ever". The Timberline will Never Ever Rust so you won't even have to bother with it until you want to use it. Many Many different Blade shapes to fit your needs in both Timberline and 5.11 and At or under you price range.

Good Luck.

I use my Pacific Salt, PE a lot and I'm pleased with it's performance. It's only 3 oz. so it's nice to carry.
Takes a good edge and stays sharp longer than I figured some rust proof steel would.
When I do sharpen it a few swipes on ceramic rods and it's back to hair popping sharp!
Here it is with a Military.

im assuming the delta blade is aus8 or 420j as their other products are? they dont seem to list the blade material on these. is the rustproof claim because of the ti coating?

having never seen those, i did a little searching. i really like the look of the delta sheepfoot, and the handle is vintage greg lightfoot. but the prices i found were all about double what the op wants to spend.

and i think id prefer h1 to aus8.

The 69.99 BlackHawk is made in Taiwan.
I've seen them on eBay for even less brand new.
