I am going to be traveling from the Great White North to visit relatives near Philly. I ordinarily carry a Delica, Vantage or BM Sequel as my EDC. Should I substitute a UKPK for the trip?

Are you traveling through NYC? If you are traveling through NYC, do you plan on staying in the city for any length of time?

You should be fine in PA with any of those knives.

If you make it up as far as NY, that's where you have to be careful. Word on the street is that since that douchebag Cyrus Vance Jr has been on his witch hunt, you'd be advised to keep a low profile with any locking folders that can be flicked open by holding the blade (most Spydies) and any that can be flicked open without touching the blade (BM Axis locks).

AO knives like Kershaws are probably ok but considering how much of a socialist police state NY is, it would be best to carry whatever you have deep in the pocket, especially if your in the Big Rotten Apple. Open carry of blades is illegal there and an exposed pocket clip is considered open carry.

Good luck.

you should be good. its really only the city thats very strict as people have said. i usually make sure my knife cant be deemed a gravity knife or automatic and just drop it in my pocket instead of using the clip.

If you won't be going to NYC, carry whatever you want, other than a dirk, dagger or switchblade.

Outside of NYC, New York State is a very knife friendly place.

I carried a Spyderco Military as EDC for many years, and regularly worked around local police, county deputies and state police.

As Buzzbait said NYS is actually quite knife friendly. Only three counties (Manhattan, Erie, and Monroe) have blade length laws.
