To the knife makers/sheath makers here.

I've been looking to fit a blade into the ACU leg pocket, it's the one down near the ankle (not the large cargo pocket). I really like the AG Russell Woodswalker, but it's more of a hip pocket/peeling apples blade.

Seems that there would be a good market for something designed to fit into that pocket (I would buy one or more). Could be an existing blade with the correct sheath or something totally new.

Would be a great back-up and faster to get to in vehicles than most other things.

The pockets run about 3.75in wide and 6.5 inches deep with a velcro closure across the top.

If someone already has found a solution to this please direct me to them.

Thanks!

The Bark River Mikro Canadian is 5" long and comes as sharp as a razor. (literally) Bark River makes great knives and their customer service is second to none. (BTW, BR makes several models that would probably work for you)

The Razel stuff looks great! Thanks for the link.

Would need some mods to it for it to fit our current uniform though.

Hmmm, I just tried my howling rat and it stick out about 3 inches. I'm in a pretty liberal unit equipment wise so I'm lucky. I'd look at the nealy MCS they're pretty small and might fit. The spyderco lil temperance fits perfect (opened) if you could get one and a sheath made, but they're discontinued and not the easiest to find. Maybe a dozier arkansas toothpick? I never thought of that I now have another place to keep a knife. You could even keep a small revolver in there or a beretta jetfire.

Actually, the stubby razel is only 6" long, so should fit pretty well as long as the sheath is properly made.

No prob, ohen. Glad to be of help.

the_mac, I think ohen was refering to the 3.75" width of the pocket, and the flop that would allow. If I am right about that being the problem, my best idea is to cut a piece of kydex, plastic, or maybe a free AOL cd to fit the pocket's dimensions and the length of the sheath, then after smoothing the rough edges, attach it to the sheath with paracord or tape or something. That way the knife would (hopefully) stay centered in the pocket, ready for action.

Or, maybe velcro on the sheath and inside the pocket could be rigged up in some creative way to keep the knife stable.

Good luck, take care.
