After some guy had busted his micarta scales from throwing his HR I recall that Jerry said that is why throwing knifes don't have micarta scales. So I got this Ram Horn GW figuring it was not micarta and the other day I gave it a toss (red line) and it held up, but just OK. I wanted to see if -with enough velocity- it would stick in granite.

The scales didn't bust but I was disappointed with a dent or two. Can it be repaired?

You mean the dent in the granite?

Eventhough Busses are thought of as survival knives, some people just weren't meant to survive.

Don't know, but that looks like a stress fracture to me. I think it is faulty materials. Also, I think it has tetanus, since I see a red line.

Ram Horn isn't exactly micarta, same thing with Buffalo horn or any bone, or ivory for that matter. In fact, I believe it's one of the weaker handle materials, they're subject to shrinking and cracking (it might take a couple of years, but maybe less). ABSOLUTELY oil it once in a while (mineral oil will do just fine, lanolin is an alternative). Good Luck.
I don't really trust any one them, and I don't really any handle material weaker than stabalized wood, or really dense wood like Ironwood.
