I have question about knife trading ethics. The situation is: after some negotiation I proposed final price to the seller, and for 5 days didn’t got an answer (maybe my price was to low or he was out of the town and so on).

Anyway, I hate uncertainties, so I’d like to take back my proposition and buy it from some other place. Do I need to write it to seller or it’s assumed by default if he doesn’t answer for 5 or 7 days proposition is no longer valid?

Never assume anything. Take the lead bring the deal to closure.

Be courteous & pleasant. . .send an e-mail stating that you're unable to wait any longer for a response from him/her on the item in question. :)

Send an email asking what they want to do, you never know why someone hasnt answered you, there may be a more than legitimate reason!! you never know!!!

I expect a reply within 24hrs - sometimes two days depending on the details / nature of our last communication. But generally 24hrs in a fluid / active - trading or buying situation.
It doesn't always happen like that but that's the level of communication I expect. Business is business. You can choose perhaps to transact that business in a liesurely fashion once each party understands ( has fully communicated with) each other.
