Hello. I'm 60 years old and have had and used knives since I was maybe 7 or 8 years old.
Over the years, I've used knives for any number of tasks. I also trained in FMA where blades as weapons is truly an art.
However, as much as I thought I had pretty good knife skills, it wasn't until I got interested in "bushcraft" that I really spent any extensive time using a knife in a variety of types of grips, holds, and cutting methods.
One intro into blade use in wood is carving a "try stick". That led me to learn of my deficiencies in blade use and handling.
I have been spending more time "whittling". Not really making any thing. But really learning some finer details of blade use.
If you haven't and have the time, you may really enjoy the time handling and using your knife/knives. You may gain some new skills and greater appreciation for what your knife can do.
God bless and best regards.
