Knife value and identification resources

Since it is asked so often by non-paying members, and I am sure it won't end, would it be possible to create a sticky about it? I am thinking of going beyond the simple "buy a gold membership" Such as:
#1 buy the membership
#2 Search auction sites for past sales
#3 google any logo's or identification marks

There are many people out there who inherit or otherwise gain a knife collection with no idea how to proceed with it, can we maybe help them out a little more?

I am by no means an expert in this field, but am sure there are those here that are, what other options could you suggest without breaking the rules?
 
I honestly don't expect everyone to read it, but I would think some would. Also, there could be valuable resources that even our seasoned members might not be aware of

Exactly, the two stickies with huge capital letters get missed, we don’t need another to just bury those further in the void.

They should be able to do some research before coming here and probably not read the rules first, before asking questions
It's like a store that puts out a weekly ad detailing all the discounts and people will still ask if it's on sale, why? (No one reads)
 
Well, let's look at it another way. I am a gold member here and have the right to ask. So, what I am asking for is a list of possible resources that ANYONE can use, is that too much to ask? Even if it isn't a sticky, might help someone out.

Someone has to put In the work to compile the list in the first place, a task that's no easy feat
 
I would be happy to compile the list, If anyone is willing to actually add to it rather than knock it down before it starts
 
Make it and start a thread
The mods may or may not pin it but you'll get people to add to it
You'll still get non gold members in there asking questions
So can't put a stop to that

I started this thread in hopes that people would post the resources here in it. hence the question in my first post: I am by no means an expert in this field, but am sure there are those here that are, what other options could you suggest without breaking the rules?
