Hi everyone,

I am doing my second knife wars thread. I hope this one has some interest. Here we go:

First off is the Spyderco Manix 2. It is favorite EDC of many and with its ball bearing lock, affordable price, many choices of handle and blade material, and signature spyder hole, it is an instant favorite of many and an overall fantastic knife.

However, going up against this spyderco knife is the Benchmade Griptillian. A tried and true knife made by a quality manufacturer and loved by many. With its patented axis lock, grippy handles, affordable price, and blade steel, it is an amazing knife. The axis lock is loads of fun and you will find very few knife lovers who have not owned, or at least tried a benchmade axis lock.

Let the fight begin!

I voted Manix. I've had two, one with the hollow grind and one with the flat. The first one was great and was made even better with some custom Rival scales. The only thing I wasn't too fond of was the hollow grind. It just didn't work for me. Traded that one away. When the flat ground version came out I picked one up as soon as I could. The grind was so much better but the knife itself wasn't as smooth. Not really sure why. Other than that they're fantastic knives, my tastes have changed though so I don't have it anymore.

The only Grip I've had was a Mini Ritter. Really a great knife. If the vote was for Mini I may have went with this. But size wise it doesn't really compare to the Manix.

GRIPTILIAN is the bargain, tough, USA knife, and the AXIS lock is strong. Custom G-10 scales make it a much better knife of even higher standard.

Voted Manix. I love my Griptilians and Mini Grips, but not quite as much as the Manix.

If you are going to include fixed blades, I voted for a #1 Randall. Got one when I was getting ready for 'Nam. Still have it and always will.

Really no comparison between the Grip & the Spyderco Manix as far as which is best as the Manix is just
plain & simple the best of the two hands down 100% of the time.!**

Word. The Manix is cheaper, fits in the hand better, comes with better steel, the lock spring will likely outlast the omega springs, it looks better, has way better jimping, better fit and finish, better materials, etc., etc. This 'battle' doesn't even require brain power. :p

Sold off all my Benchmades, including both a mini and size grip. Love my Spydies.

Gotta go with the Manix 2. I've owned two grips, and sold both of them. I can't get over how cheap the zytel handles make it feel. Also the lack of full liners make them feel less durable. The manix is boss though. Personally fits my hand way better. I am more of a fan of the regular Manix 2 over the lightweight version though. Again, I just feel like I can abuse them more.

There are things I like about each. In the end I don't have a preference, but have to vote for the Manix 2 on account of the Griptilians being overpriced.
