knife wearing hole in pocket

i recently got a BM940 and its been wearing a pretty big hole in my pocket because of the chalky texturing (i think). i heard it kinda wears off after a while. but is there a faster way to fix it?

Used to carry a Spydie Civilian in pants hip. After a year, I noticed all of my jeans had a hole worn from the bottom of the knife rubbing against the denim. -Stopped carrying that one.

If you want to reduce the texture of your blade scales, work it over with some high grit wet/dry sandpaper. I'd start with at least 600 grit.

I usually carry in the tool pocket of my Carhartt's. Every knife I've carried as an edc will eventually wear a hole through the denim. I started using an iron on denim patch on the inside of the pocket on my new jeans to prevent this. So far, having that extra layer is doing the job. I suppose you could go with a less aggressively textured knife as an edc as well.

I had that problem until I bought one of Ron Ryder's leather slips: http://www.backroomleather.com/leatherontheshelf.html

Very inexpensive but high quality work from a prince of a guy. He'll work with you on any sizing peculiarities. I've had mine for several years now and rely on it every day. It shows no sign of wear and tear and has done a great job of protecting my Grip and my pockets...

You might also check out his Buckaroo pouch doohickey. That might suit your needs ever better than the slip/case...

Good Luck

One of my good friends has a G-10 Leek that wore through his khaki pants, so he took off the clip and sanded the handle down smoother, replaced the clip, and presto.

Cotton will do that on ya, that's why denim is so thick, so you can wear it and work it in a time before synthetics.

I love my tacti-pants, they hold up so much nicer

If you are going to sand around on G10 please be careful. Use a respirator or sand it under water that stuff is pretty carcinogenic. FWIW

This is an inherent problem with carrying the same EDC every day. Not that carrying the same knife every day is a bad thing but this is a possible problem when you do. I mix my EDC rotation up quite a bit and often and I have never had a hole problem. The top seam of my pocket sure takes a beating from the clips though.

Kevlar trousers will help. :D

What he said. No matter how smooth, if you carry the same thing, it'll wear on pants. Think of all the Skoal can rings you've seen on back pockets.

oops... wrong thread

Yes, good point. Inhaling microscopic bits of glass = lung cancer.

Fixed it for ya!

Eh? not carcinogenic. just not that good for you in large quantities.

if you did it as a profession, you would need good protection. LIke a HEPA dust mask.

A one-off? not a big problem. sand it outside or sand it with water.

I've never had a hole form in my pockets from carrying a knife, but like Reeek said the seams of my front right pockets show some wear. Switch up what knives you carry, maybe try carefully bending out the clip, loosening the pocket clip screws and then loctite them, or even get a new pair of "tactical britches".
