I´ve seen a few Schrades with the old style brass liner locks, I believe at least one is still being made.

I taught Highschool math 1974 - 1976, there was a whittling shop class at the school and the instructor had a nice big Schrade (I´d say about 4 1/2 to 5 inches closed) somewhat similar to the LB7 but had the brass liner lock. In 1977 I made a trip to Houston U.S. and saw the same knife at the Galleria mall, should have gotten one.

Memory is vague and I don´t remember if the scales were wood or delrin or if the bolsters were brass or nickel silver.

I´ve looked around for one of those but apparently like so many other Schrades this one is long gone. I´d appreciate it if anybody (LT??) could comment on this one and maybe show a picture.

Hey Don Luis, be careful not to wake anyone in here.:(

Sorry no pics, but...

43OT Beast 3 7/8" blade
47OT Beast 4 7/8" blade
both with plastic/nylon (?) handle

55 OT Green Bruin 4" blade
sawcut green delrin handle

Do they have any WalMarts in Mexico?

Bill

Yes, I´ve seen the Beast, and I have two OT lockbacks (3OT and 5OT), I also have an LB7 from 1978.

Yes, there are WalMarts in Mexico, but they don´t carry the same stuff that you have in the U.S., particulartly no knives other than kitchen knives and a few SAKs (and of course no guns, which are practically impossible to get legaly in Mexico).

Sorry about the no knives :(

The Green Bruin has a brass liner lock I believe. Also, I forgot about the 194OT. It's the single blade trapper with a brass locking liner and thumbpad type release (maybe invented by Bob Cargill?).

I think you can see them at Smoky Mountain, if you would like to.

Regards,
Bill

The only three OT's that I know of with the brass liner locks are:

2-3/4" one blade penknife

5-1/4" one blade folding hunter

single blade trapper as mentioned above

They may still make #1 and #3, but the folding hunter - may be the one youre thinking of Don - has been long gone from production. They used to make it in Uncle Henry too.

The knife you are looking for is the 125OT or in staglon the 127UH if you go to ebay and go to (Schrade old timer) you will find all of them you could want. I did not look up the UH model but chances are they are there as well. They also made a smaller version. The brass liner lock has been in the line since Schrade Cut ( pre 46). I am attaching a pic with a few variations and patterns it is used on notice the large hunter with a saw ( that is the lock blade) also various trappers current and older models as well as a muskrat with a gutting blade which is the lock blade ( since the hook is used upside down the blade will not close when pressure is applied. But notice the large barlow type knife it is a Schrade cut ( pre 46 ) it is the easy open large barlow fishing style ( with scaler on back of blade ) it also has the liner lock which is quite rare I just got it and consider it a find.. I have several without the lock in that pattern. You never know this style of lock can pop up on some unusual models. Also you will find them on alot of there scrimshaw knives.LT

Fantastic LT, Thank You very much, as usual all that was asked for and more.

I believe the one I was thinking of is the top right with rear bolster. Now that I think about it, I believe I´ve seen that pattern in other American makers, with and without lock, one or two long blades, about 5 inches closed.

So many diferent knives made by Schrade and other American makers over the years, there´s still a couple I´ve seen and am particularly curious about ... but the more I learn the more I want to know.

I may bother you with more questions again next week.
