I have some SAK with corkscrews and some Laguiole corkscrews with small blades. Since I am new to traditionals, are knives that have a decent corkscrew with a blade at least 2 1/4" long?

The Case Bartender knife is an excellent choice.

Ed...man that has got to be one of the better themed photo's on here that I have seen in a while-awesome!

It was elk hunting season 2008. Great place to break in the new smooth bone bartender's knife!

The "EKA Swede 90" is a corkscrew pocketknife that I don't hear about often.

That Case sure does look classy though.:thumbup:

Ed,

I'm in Eastern Washington too, and frequently enjoy our exellent local wines. Which means I have pulled a few corks. I too have considered that Case bartender. I usually use an old Ka-Bar hunting knife to remove the foil, but that little foil blade looks like it has potential.

Cheers.

Does a knife+corkscrew combo exist that also has an integrated "assist" feature? The only one of which I am aware is my Leatherman Juice. I'd like a more traditional pattern that has these features. Any ideas?

I use currently use a SAK that has a corkscrew but it would be nice to have a more elegant picnic knife.

To clarify, I want a pattern that looks something like this:

The reason I want the assist is that I am a waiter by profession. I already have two SAKs with corkscrews, and I occasionally use them. However, they are extremely awkward to use when compared to a properly-leveraged waiter model. I do at least one wine presentation a week to customers, so I need this feature. I would just like to have a nice folding knife as well. I have been drooling over laguioles, but none seem to be quite what I need.

eojk,

I have the SAK Spartan and it works fine except that you have ease the cork out rather than to have it come out quickly with a big "pop".

Beautiful corkscrew with corkscrews Mike.

eojk, The fulcrum you show is typically found on waiter's friends corkscrews and not traditional pocket knies. This is the closest to your request that I have. A bit of both.

Not to sway to far off topic but does anyone else think its kinda funy that old cub and boyscout knives had cork screws on them? By the way that case bartenders knife is very nice but i love the look of the stag on that Henkles.

Regards
Ben

Gerber made one. I have one packed away (with all my household stuff), so no photo, but I picked up half a dozen of them about 10 years ago in Missouri. They were my Christmas stocking stuffers that year.
