Knife you wish you could have bought?

I picked up some great knives at Blade, from Bailey Bradshaw, Koji Hara, and Scott Cook. But the knife I would really have liked to have brought home was a folder by Bill Burke, with a forged 52100 blade and black sheep horn scales. Unfortunately, the knife was not for sale and Mr. Burke wasn't at his table at the time, so I didn't have a chance to ask if he was planning to make any more folders (in retrospect, probably for the best, since I'd already spent too much money).

What knives have you left behind at shows, that you would really have loved to take home?

Dave,
It was great to meet you and your wonderful wife and I am glad you were able to join us for dinner Thursday.

Keven Harvey's Bell Bowie was the one that I let get away, by the time the show started I had spent enough to have purchased a decent car due to test knife orders placed years ago, but Kevin's bowie sure was tempting.

Mine was a leaf blade sword by Kevin Cashen, which was already sold. He had 2 on his table, plus a viking sword. All were multibar PW blades. They were amazing.

Of course, I would have loved to have one of those Cashen swords. But, the knife that really got my blood going was that big honkin stag handled bowie that Ron Newton had on his table temporarily. The knife now belongs to Uncle Al, and is for sale, but I cannot afford it. Believe me, this knife was Muy Excellanto! :D

Actually there was a tie between two knives, a beautiful Fighter from Rob Patton with a forged blade and carved ebony handle and a forged camp knife from Jason Knight. Both were beautiful and both were available. All I needed was the cash. :(

I wanted the Patton fighter in Carbon Fiber, another R.W. Clark MAU, and another Marlowe folder. I would have picked up a folder from A.T. Barr too, if I had the cash. Oh well, maybe next year!

I definately plan on spending some money on a Scott Cook knife or two. I've enjoyed looking at his knives on the net, but I held them - more than once in Atlanta. I hope to have a large Owyhee and a Lochsa by next year. I also held some knives that were on my "to buy" list, and ended up not being for me. Nothing like getting up close and personal with a knife before you buy it. The blade show is a great opportunity to see/touch/buy a huge variety of knives. I feel fortunate to live about 80 miles from where the show is held. Looking forward to next year.

Walker bowie, Newton bowie\gun, V. Evans Scottish basket hilt saber, J. Perry stag fighter, W. Coulter Texas star bowie, Kevin Harvey Bell reproduction, J W Randall bowie, Fitch take down bowie...

I need a money machine:confused:

Dave,

That Fogg sword that was auctioned off was amazing. If I had an extra $6,001 I would have made a bid for it. Ed Fowler still had a real sweet bowie on his table on Sunday, and Bill Burke also did a great job on his JS knives, including the folder mentioned above, that he was selling as a set. Ed Schempp had a prototype of a brush knife that was sized just right too. There were so many I could go on and on...:D

Dave,

I am truely sorry to have missed you. I did spend a lot of time trying to see the show but actually saw very little of it. This was my first time at blade show and I was trying to make the most of it. I am planning on making a few folders on the pattern of the one that I had at the show but don't plan on becoming a folder maker. I took orders for two others at the show and one other. If you would like one e-mail me and let me know. I do not have any black horn for the scales though.
