Knife you would be buried with?

I know rather morbid... however let's say you have to have one choice of knife to be buried with, to go to the great beyond. What would it be? A sentimental favorite? A pricey custom? Or just your favorite EDC of all time. What would it be?

For me?

I would want to go through the heavenly gates (gad, hope they don't use metal detectors!) with my trusty Benchmade AFCK... The old model with the liner lock and butterfly on the butt. My choice of fixed blade knife would be a Strider... I don't own one, but, hell... if I am going to the next world I really hope someone could spring for one for me!

The knife that killed me, surrounded by the bodies of my fallen enemies!

Seriously, I would go for my old AFCK too. It's in pretty bad shape right now, God bless its little stainless steel soul.

yea, it HAS to be the old model... I hear that God hates the oval hole as much as the rest of us...

I would want to be buried with any knife that could hack through the coffin and dig me outta that grave! :D :p

Unless you mean after I'm dead? In that case, I dunno. I'll have to take a look at my customs, but I would think I'd have bequeathed all my knives to my antecedents, and wouldn't have any left. :)

I intend on being cremated so no knife will go with me. I don't want to be responsible for a fine knife being incinerated.

I would like to say that my Sebenza will be in my pocket when I go but I know that won't be the case. It will be in my one of my kid's pockets! :D

When I go to meet the Goddess it will have to be a sword - Frodo's Sting will do me fine.

Is that a personal attack? I think it is! :D

I actually love the oval hole. Fastest draw for any pocket knife I own. I was dubious at first, but the oval hole grows on you. And it doesn't tear your thumb apart like those silly Sebenza things supposedly do. :p

must have to do with the person's thumb... I had an Ascent with the oval that just never suited me. And since I have also owned about 20 Spyderco's I guess you get used to the "hole"...

And by the way... Since liner locks NEVER fail in the hereafter... I'm sure to take the older model AFCK...

(continued from blackmamba's post)
... with the handle flex from the too weak titanium liners and the ATS-34 which can't match the new D2 (IMO) and the dirt that would always get jammed in the lock.

I love the old AFCK, don't get me wrong, but I got a new one last month and seems to have removed all of the problems with the old one. Yeah, I know the AFCK designer claimed the AXIS would fail in combat, but he did have a bone to pick with Benchmade. I don't know the deal, so I won't comment either way. But I filed one side of the AXIS lock down, covered my hands in grease, did 40 pushups to get my heart moving, and tried to accidentally disengage the lock in any situation I would think of, all the while using a white knuckle death grip. Switching from forward grip to saber might cause a problem if the lock were not filed down, but it is. And let me tell you, if you are using knife in a life and death situation, you stick with the forward grip.

Why don't you, an AFCK user, the most enlightened of knife people, like the new AFCK?

(Ok, so this post is over the top. I am aware of that. But I did do the test I described, and I would like to hear why blackmamba does not like the 806).

Because I am a cheap A#$# ;)

In all honesty... it is more a sentimental issue. I always wanted the "original", however those were "lean" years and I could not afford one back in the late 90's. I can't tell you how many times I dialed up the webpage for Knifecenter or the like... and drooled over that which I could not afford.

So I went through a divorce, got back on my feet, got re-married and found some money... I got me one of those knives I wanted for so long off of EBAY, new in box for a pretty good price. I also wanted a 350 and 910 back then, both of which I have gotten.

I will say, aside from the oval vs. hole issue... I will concure, I bet the new one is better. I also plan on getting one here in the next couple of months.

So to answer you question... for sentimental reasons... I would want to be buried with the old, round holed butterfly on the butt AFCK...

If I have to live with a knife... I am sure I'll take the 806.

If I am buried and alive... I may change my choice...

I want the Cold Steel Special Forces shovel...

Knife you would be buried with?

well if I were to actually need a knife in that situation, I would wish to have a knife that is connected to a CELL PHONE!

I would rather have my knives given to loved one's than to be selfish enough to have them buried with me.
