In my opinion, it's biggest value is going to be that it belong(ed) (s) to your dad. I've heard of Edge Mark knives, but I haven't heard them mentioned along with the known "high value" makers. Don't even know that I'd do any cleaning on it other than removing the surface dirt so that it can be displayed somewhere. I'd wipe it down and either display it on a stand or put it away with the other keepsakes from your dad if it was me.

Here's a link to a BF thread on Edge brand knives from 2012. Post #7 might be helpful to you: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/edge-brand-bowie-knives.970680/

It probably has 440A blade steel, since the type of 440 is nit given. It will likely be a good user to put in your tool box or tackle box.

I think Edgemark is a Gutman Cutlery (NY) brand made in Germany and Japan over the years. Their products were always useful and mid to high quality. They had several marks. I have a German Bowie that I use hard for brush and BBQ wood and it takes it. Some patterns are very similar to other brands. They imported Puma and I think some of their German knives came from some well known firms. Some Japanese knives have the Seki mark.

I don't know anything about this brand of knife. But value can't be measured in dollars. One of my favorite knives is a Buck 110 knockoff with blue scales and leather sheath I got from a neighbor when I was very young. Not really worth anything, but I wouldn't let go of it.

I would give it a good bath. Sharpen it, use it for a while and see if it will hold an edge. If it will hold a reasonable edge, it's not junk. It might not have much $$ value, but it wouldn't be junk. If it won't hold a reasonable edge, it's junk. Sharpen it and find out which it is.

O.B.

DocT you are correct
I know the pictures aren't very good but it has 440 steel stamped on the blade
Thanks for the input

What I meant was that when companies do not specify which type of 440 steel (440a, 440b, 440c) that normally means it is 440a.
