Hi All,

Thinking of getting an oven. These are the three I am looking at.

This one http://usaknifemaker.com/kinfedogs-oven.html

Vs this one http://usaknifemaker.com/heat-treat...wx6-5-hx13-5-d-w-rampmaster-control-240v.html

vs this one http://usaknifemaker.com/heat-treat...-w5-5-xd14-5-xh4-25-sentry-digital-12key.html

Price is not to much of an issue between them. Seems the top one can do what I need it to do. Nice to have the oven do everything by itself. Seems like an alarm clock and a binder with times and temps will work as well.

Chime in please Do I really need a oven that I can connect to my computer. I'm Just saying.

Thanks, Ken

I would recommend the Evenheat. I hear more complaints on the Paragon. I have an Evenheat Rampmaster ll 22.5. I really believe the heat control is superior to Paragon, but that's just my opinion from using it for a few years now with no problems. Whatever you buy, be sure to get 220/240 V, and not a 110/120 V. They take too long to come up to heat.

I have the Evenheat also, been useing it for about 6 years.Nothing but good things to say about it.

I have a 220V 27" Evenheat with the Rampmaster controller; zero problems.

I wouldn't recommend a HT oven without a programmable controller.

The extra cost of the 220V unit and controller are worth it IMO.

All good advice from the guys above. I would not get an oven without a controller. Set and forget is the best part about it.

I went through all this when I purchased an oven recently (you guys in the states are lucky with your prices! Nearly double what your prices are to have a Paragon landed to me!)

If your going to drop $700-$1000 on an oven, why not spend a little bit more and get a 20"-25" oven. Its going to use a bit more power but in 12 months time you want to treat a 15" blade and you cant, I bet you will be wishing you had of bought bigger then.

My 2 cents!

And I ended up deciding on the KM24D.

Same advice as Matt
I spent lot's of time agonizing over what oven I should get finally get, I got the Even-heat Ramp master ll 22.5 no regrets, I've done a couple big choppers since. Not my usual stuff but why limit your self, and I usually heat treat 3-4 blades at a time or one huge one. It's so nice to have a programmable controller when you start working with the more exotic steels. Definitely go with 220/240 because when you go over 2000> to 2150 it's like an extra 15-25min for that extra 150.
Do not limit your Knife making with your oven, the even heat will do what ever knife making steel you want to use.

Hard decision I get feed back both ways. This much I have decided:
1. 220v
2. Programmable
3. 18 inch min.
I think its going to come down to price. Any one know who has the best prices on Evenheat and paragon?
