Hmmmm, that's odd!

I'm getting Northern Michigan Online's Homepage.... I have never visited this site before, and I have never had any trouble accessing Knifeforums.com...

I get this Northern Michigan thing no matter what search engine I use...

I dunno!

Sorry for the screw up.... I guess it's just me

Seems fine to me.

Sometimes, a nameserver gets a wrong entry in it and you may be unable to access a given site of may even find yourself looking at a totally unrelated site for a day or so until the new DNS table comes out and updates your name server.

You see, websites are like show dogs. They have two names, a short "calling" name, and a long fancy name. Websites have a "Calling name" such as http://www.bladeforums.com, and also an IP address, which is just a series of numbers and difficult to remember. Furthermore, the IP address is actually assigned to the computer that hosts the site, not to the site. So, if the site is moved to a different computer, the IP Address often changes. To save ordinary users the trouble of keeping up with such moves and of remembering random groups of numbers, we typically use a site's calling name (a.k.a. URL). But, the actual guts of the internet use IP Addresses. So, when you type http://www.knifeforums.com, it has to get translated to that site's current IP Address. That translation is done by a Name Server computer which is often right at your internet service provider. Of course, every name server on the network has to have a list of which URL maps to which IP address. Those lists are sent out by Internic once per day. If your server's list got some sort of error in it, you may be unable to find a specific site for one day. It happens occationally.

Posted in the General Forum over on knifeforums.com:

Greetings All Just a note to say the next 24 hrs you might have difficulties finding us My Host has changed bandwidth providers, and as soon as the your provider's DNS updates the changes they will be accessing the new bandwidth... What does this mean...

You should notice a marked increase in speed over the next few days

As usual, reports of knifeforums' demise are greatly exagerated.

Odd Pictures at Photopoint
An assortment of pictures I decided to share with anyone that was so bored they wanted to check out my antics. I did this to prove that I am indeed sane. Be advised that there's hardly any nudity. Feel free to sign the Guestbook!!

I wrote most of that at work after drinking massive amounts of coffee. I needed to look busy and that dribbled out of my head. There's also a whole bunch of Optical Illusions.
