Hi. I'm just curious. Does anyone know the history between knifeforums and bladeforums? Why isn't there just one?

Long story and there is plenty of history if you do a search.

Like anything in life, or any business, regardless of us being a service to the community or not we will always seem to be in competition with KFC.

I ran the general forum at KFC and Spark was the webmaster. After some rather trying times, I moved Spark down here from Kentucky and started BFC, which is what I should have done 3 years ago when I first mentioned a forum like this on Benchmade's forum.

Jim Nowka is doing good work at KFC and we wish him the best of luck and good fortune. There is plenty of room for the both of us. Like magazines and other forms of media, it is always better to have more than one source for information. So use both when necessary, I do

It seems to me that whatever bad blood there once might have been has vanished completely, despite the odd troll here and there. Both forums are very good and many BFF members are also KFF members, as I am. I spend much more time here because there is so much more going on over here. Why that is the case is something you can figure out for yourself after visiting both for a few weeks. But that isn't to take anything away from KFF. I think there's room for both and having both is healthy for each. They do know their Scotch over there, however

I agree -- tis better to have two competing forums than one.

Truth be known, I don't visit knifeforums much because it is: ....too....bloody....slow. What's up with that? It will choke my old Mac at home, and even on my gracious employer's line it's slow. Plus the volume of posting is much lower.

Note however, that knifeforums and bladeforums together have effectively killed the newsgroup rec.knives.

I did hit knifeforums the other day when bladeforums was down. Had to get a fix.

And of course we know our Whine and Cheese over here

I visit Knifeforums a lot less than I visit here. The reasons is that there are a lot more people here and the post volume is larger. When I visit Knifeforums, its because I want to see what people have posted for sale. This new thing with the classified ads has really killed the personal sales around here (while I am very loyal to BFC, I don't want to miss out on any special deals).
