Has any body made a knife from knifekits.com? I was wondering if they're fairly easy to put together for a nice looking, useable knife. I'm thinking of doing a fixed blade as a summer project so do you have any recommendations on which to do?

Also are there any special tools I need? I have a bunch of hand tools, power drills, and a drill press. Would a belt sander come in handy? I can't imagine there being a HUGE amount of work making a fixed knife, other than the scales.

Post up some pics of ones you've made!

The DDR series, EV4N1, and the GX6 are very nice kits and make great edc knives. Putting them together is fairly simple if you're mechanically inclined at all.

Not the greatest pics but here are a few I made up for Christmas presents a couple of years ago.

Even the cheaper kits are quite decent. We ordered a whole bunch of them for a scouting camp so 2 years ago. The blades are all AUS8 which is a decent steel.

And it's all fairly simple to put together. I'm going to make mine some new scales sometime.

Plus it's always fun to be able to show someone a knife that you put together yourself.

From the sounds of it you should be fine. I believe the blades are already shaped and formed, you just have to put the pins and handles on them.

I've been meaning to get a few myself, but haven't had the spare time to build one.
