I recently sent my Swisstool Spirit X to Connecticut for repair and purchased a knife less Gerber MP600 because it provided me with a full size plier head and useful large size scissors that would cut zip ties.

I've been day dreaming of putting scissors from a Leatherman Blast into a Leatherman Rebar and removing the useless (to me) serrated blade.

I got my Swisstool back from the spa earlier this week and the same day I spotted what appears to be a silently released knifeless Leatherman Rebar.

I think this version of the Rebar may be a perfect fit for my EDC as long as the scissors are robust enough to cut a zip tie and agile enough to trim a lose thread on a tee shirt.

What do you think?

If they are the same scissors that were on the pulse, and they look close, they should be pretty solid. any zip-tie too big to cut with them is big enough to pinch nip with the pliers nose.

It wasn't exactly silent; they demoed it at SHOT and I saw it in several booth videos on Youtube.

I have most of the knifeless MTs, including the MP600—sadly, I haven't found a kniifeless Fuse yet. My problem with the knifeless Rebar is that it still has a saw and awl, and while I hate to go without the awl, I carry knifeless tools so I can bring them through security checkpoints. Apart from eliminating redundancy, why else would you choose an MT without a blade?
